Hi.

Recently I have become obsessed with watching the first 2 X Men films. I have been watching them both every couple of days for about 2 or 3 weeks. When I am not watching them I have the scripts going through my head. This is getting to be a bit sad. It is like total escapism for me.

I can't work out what the obsession. Maybe I can relate to the mutants, although I don't have any special powers. Maybe its because they are different and don't fit in with society.

If I could be one of them I would be Magneto. He has the best lines in those films and plays the part very well.

Does anyone else get obsessed with watching the same films over and over. Is it part of autism?

Yes to both.

The X-Men is my obsession too. I wrote some fanfics on it which you can find in my signature. I would like to live in this world as one of them - if I were to choose the power, I would go for telepathy.

Thanks for reply. I am glad someone else has an obsession with them. Do you mind if I ask a few questions?

In the first film do you think Sabretooth fancies Storm? I cannot work out why he asked her to scream for him.

Do you think Storm acts very emotionally neutral because her emotions are linked to the weather. So if she got angry suddenly there could be a hurricane or something?

Also I cannot work out why (in the second film) Jean Gray starts to lose it and ends up sacrificing herself at the end. Why didn't they just get Bobby (iceman) to freeze the water. I thought the Jean Gray bit at the end of the second film was too OTT and a bit cheesy.

I have never read the comics or seen any other cartoons of Xmen. Only the recent films.

I also thought the 3rd film was a let down. Especially cause Magneto lost his powers. And Jean Gray came back as the b***h from hell.

Films, entire TV series from season to season and often to the exclusion of sleep, albums all find themselves on a repeat cycle from time to time.

There's 2 different X-Men cartoon series: X-Men, and X-Men: Evolution. The former revolved around the original concepts (ie, Wolverine in yellow spandex), the latter is linked with the recent movies ("everyone growing up" concept). The original was pretty hardcore for it's time, but because of the "Violence in kid shows" crap during the 90s, the show waned.

To tell the truth, I don't fancy the movies as much as the cartoons and comics (and fanfiction :D - btw, my FF.net profile has two links to the mutant characters created by me if you are curious) and the details of all the feature movies are mixed with each other for me - I have problems with distinguishing what happened in which movie. Look here: http://fans.marvel.com/go/forum/view/10 ... 5762/x-men A good site I am on, under the same nickname as here. I'm sure there are many other fans that can explain to you many things about the movies you would like to know. As for what I think of your questions:

1. I bet it is exactly as you say. Sabertooth is, after all, the embodiment of masculinity with a high testosterone level. He's very animalistic. For this guy fancying a woman seems to be strictly connected with agression.

2. I'm sure this is an important factor to consider.

3. I don't remember exactly the ending. But such are the holy martyrs of the Holy Holywood Gospel  - people who sacrifice their lives for the greater good. It's expected from a positive character that they sacrifice themselves for others.

There are MANY comics on the X-Men. I, personally, don't follow any particular storyline, reading what I find, regardless what comic it is. In the movies Magneto was my compatriot, he even was calling his parents in Polish but the Magneto: Testament explains he was a German Jew, finally dispersing any doubts as for his origin the fans could have.

PlatedDrake - theer's also Wolverine and the X-Men series but there's just one season and they resigned from making more seasons, this one that exists is and will be the only one.

I've been reading X-Men comics since I was about 6 years old.

I'm TOTALLY obsessed.

I can tell you details about the first 30 years of their publications that would blow your mind.

But look at it this way, geekiness is a good way to cover up obsessive behaviour.

I've also found this is true by becoming a musician.

My obsession was Trainspotting.

I watched that movie 2-3 times a day for about 6 months.

People thought I was a bit weird, but they accepted it.

Don't feel bad about it, it happens, especially to people like us.

People will just think that you're really into the films.

Never obsessed, no, but I found them quite appealing, though that's waned over time. I do have all the original cartoon episodes (illegally, which I suppose I ought to remedy), the two films and a bunch of the comics.

I became very obsessed, after I saw the second film. I was able to relate to the mutants, very well. Those are very cool films, with very cool characters. 8)
