Ok so hear are the reasons:
1) there very self involved always wanting you attention
2) They like affection only when their in the mood
3) they hate being disturbed when there involved in their own little thing
4) They are facisnated by objects like a ball of string or something flying in the air they can stare at it for hours
5) they dont react well to loud noises like dogs barking (i got scratched once because a dog was irrating this cat near me by barking)
6) They can have there loveable moments (i just put this in for the heck of it)

what do you think?

it does not sound dum,its something that is commonly thought.
am have a cat [in avatar,on maine coon side/not purebreed] who is definitely autistic like though she would be more on the autism side rather than AS.
Goldie is aspie-like,Sam is very stereotypical NT-like.

Am do think the time will come when ASD becomes cat criteria, because depression and OCD both did,for now it can be just 'autistic like'.

I don't think that all cats have AS.

At least two of mine didn't/doesn't.

One of mine probably is. If that cat were human, the label would definitely be Asperger's.

I wonder how many autistic kitties are out there?

I always thought a lot of cats do, especially my cat. He's more of an aspie than I am.

My cat isn't asperger's, she's just anti-social. 8O

She won't go near other cats. She just hisses and attacks them. Male or female.

Just personally, I'm not a dog person at all. A few are cute on occasion, but it's rare that I'll really like them. I don't hate them, or dislike them, they just aren't my favourite animals. Cats, on the other hand, I adore. Love, love love. My cats are very therapeutic... very strong personalities, cute as hell, fun, one is about as Aspergic as I am, I just love them.

LOL, you know, I've often wondered the same thing. As much as I love dogs, hell, almost any animal, I especially love cats, always have. I grew up with both dogs and cats and, to me, dogs are the NT's and cats are the AS. I remember reading a column once where it was stated that "dogs have owners, cats have staff", and that is very true.

Although the two cats I have now are usually very affectionate; that could be, though, because I rescued them from the humane society shortly before it was their "time", so to speak. I do have to keep them confined to one room for the most part, as my husband is very allergic to cats, but I still manage to spend time with them. My husband was great about my keeping the cats when I first moved in with him last winter, and then when we got married in November and moved to another place. He enjoys watching them when I'm able to take them outside if the weather permits.

I "get" cats, I love having one around, especially my current one. Mine have all acted like they have AS!

my one cat definitely flaps his paws when he's happy... not just like he's milking mama... but he'll lay on his back and just alternate flapping them.... extending one and contracting it as he does the other... sits there and goes back and forth... almost like swinging your legs. he's so cute.

i <3 cats.
and, in general, i need an animal that can specifically remind me that it's meal time. their voice gets a particular kind of frenzy to it within the hour of getting fed and god help me if i forgot even by a minute...

lol... sounds like he's kneading the air instead of a blanket. kate does this - the other two like to knead soft things, but kate kneads air/your arm when you pet her.

My cat isn't an Aspie, he's a sociopath.
