Hey!

Is it true that I might have aspergers even if I didn't show aspergers traits when I was a child? I read on internet that it is possible that as sympthoms become evident when one's grow up. I can't read well all social cues. I would say that I showed first as sights when I turned 11 or 12. They were routines and I was very selfish in some way. But I really don't remember having as sympthoms before 11 years old(obsessions etc). You can ask me for more information about me. Sorry for bad english

and I remember one time when I was 11 I didn't want to be friend with other children be'cause they didn't want to be like I wanted them to be. But it was for a short time and later I was friend with them. And later I was obsessed with music and one band.

I agree with 2ukenkerl, you haven't posted enough information for people to guess whether you have AS or not.

Im not sure if I can explain things in english. Im interested if i can have asperger if I do not meat diagnosis criteria when I was a child and I didn't have obsessions, social issues or routins as a child. Can symthomps develop later. I don't know, I think I meat diagnosis criteria now and a lot things about as is like me now. Or I must say that maybe from the age of 11 or 12. So shortly how important is that sympthoms where at the age of 0-11. Or do I have something else.

I think you have something else. You don't just start getting it in later in life, it appears at a very young age. You might have a personality disorder or something.

You have already gotten tested for it I remember and the specialist said you don't have it.

Hey I don't know. Yes I've seen specialist but IMO I've seen him too litlle to tell for sure if I have or not. And some things I didn't remember to tell. And my depression and social issues has got worse.

I found this on internet:

While the more overt symptoms of autism are typically more obvious in early childhood, the symptoms of AS may only become apparent with the increasing functional and social demands of adolescence. In the adolescent with AS, the stress of unrecognized disability, limited achievement, and a sense of failure are often revealed by increasing contrast with siblings and peers. Family and peers may become exasperated by the person's self-centered insensitivity, obsessiveness, and rigid inflexibility, further distorting personal relationships. All these factors can add secondary disability and result in dependency that is disproportionate to the person's intellectual ability.

Does that means that it is not absolutely must to have a clear as-sympthoms as a child to be an aspie? If so I will go to other specialist and get a diagnosis. Im tyred of being depressed and alone I need some help. Sorry for bad english again!

By clear sympthoms I mean that the person doesn't remember of having them as a child

I am only going to the psychologist now, after realizing I might have Aspergers. I never thought anything of my odd/off-the-wall behavior or social anxiety and now looking back, there were so many things were just...weird.

I think although please correct me everyone if im wrong, that although with some people the symptoms may not become worse until they are older, there will always be some symptoms present from an early age because that is part of what it is, its a developmental disorder which means you have it while you are developing, growing up.

i had alot of friends at that age, i haven't had any friends since high school, 10 yrs ago. i was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, ptsd and alot of others that pretty much add up to aspergers to 100%. the thing about it in my childhood autism wasn't even known.. it was considered only a learning disorder with of course the co-morpid conditions.

If you really didn't have *any* AS symptoms before 11 years old, then that is probably not AS- as people have already mentioned, it is likely a personality disorder. At least *some* symptoms must manifest in early childhood for it to be a developmental disorder. Are you sure you just don't remember your childhood behavior as odd? It may not have seemed that way at the time. You could try asking a relative.
