Is neurological engineering impossible?

Would we die if this happened?

How far are scientist away from this?

If the world dosen't end in 2012 or there isnt a nuclear war in the next 20-30 years i think they are going to have deeply advanced int he autism treatment, maybe gene correction with nano technology, they can do it!

Be careful...many of the militant "anti-cure" folks here appear to believe this sort of thing
would be the work of that caprine fellow depicted in your avatar

Even if it happened, I still wouldn't want to be cured. I rather that the world end, instead. I can't stand the NTs of my gender, so why should I want to be like them?

Aren't flying cars, jet backpacks, and moving sidewalks supposed to be common by now?

It would be a good thing to be able to change your neurological makeup at will. It would be science fiction.

Are you a troll, by the way?

Hey, what's wrong with NE?

A little nanatech robot going into your brain, rewiring it and bingo you're 20 points higher on the IQ test.

Oh, don't worry about the 20 psychotic episodes you start having every day... that's just the side effects, you'll be smarter... fit in better, be a more productive member of society....
Oh and when you get cancer at the age of 35, don't worry.. we got nanotech cures for that.. and the side effects aren't TOO bad.

Herein lies the unspeakable tragedy, folly and irony of the human condition.

The very things that matter most to most of us are the very things that are beyond our reach.

We can put men on the moon....but we can't always stop children from dying
from the uncontrolled growth of their own tiny cells.

We can build flying objects that can destroy entire cities halfway across
the world in minutes....but we can't "fix" a dysfunctional three pound clump
of tissue inside our skulls.

Many things we've accomplished in the past 65 years or so WERE science fiction to people a mere 40 years before then.

But we have advanced very little in terms of the things that REALLY matter to billions of people on this earth.

Probably not.

I would consider it a serious flaw of the procedure if death was a guaranteed outcome.

Don't know, have you googled?

Maybe.
