Has anybody here seen or heard of an Australian movie called the Black Balloon? I saw it yesterday. Its about a 16 year old boy and his severely autistic older brother. He just wants a normal life, but his brother makes this impossible.

I was really frustrated with the way Autism was portrayed in this film. There was nothing particularly autistic about the character of Charlie, other than his repetitive banging on things with a wooden spoon. I think "mentally ret*d" would have been a better way to describe him. Other than that, it was very well acted and directed.
