Do you find fire stimulating?

I have an obsession about fire. I would love an open fireplace. Can stare at flames for hours. Bonfire night is always a fascination for me. I find all sorts of weird objects to throw into the flames. Also have a bit of a weird fascination with historical burnings at the stake such as Joan of Arc.

Anyone else enjoy fire? If so, in what way?

I have always had a fascination with fire, looking at the embers on a dark night, we have a firepit in the backyard and have it going almost every weekend from the spring to the fall

I like to watch it. I don't like being near one though for some reason. I just don't like the feeling of it's heat on my skin. I like the sound of the crackle though :D

A real log fire is quite hypnotic and usually more entertaining than the television.

As a student many years ago I used to have a fascination for more esoteric forms of fire involving oxidants and combustibles and used to make my own fireworks etc. :D

I love to flambé when cooking, even though I've singed my fringe twice, and my eyelashes once. :chef:

Gas burns with a blue flame.

Does that include putting out a candle with one's fingers?

ooo, I looooove to bake. But I don't find range-top fires as visually stimulating as a campfire.

If they don't go on too long I like electricity cuts because we light candles, and I drift off watching the flames, can hardly move, can hardly bear to stop and go to bed.

re: candle snuffing with fingers: no; people used to do that if didn't have snuffers so not psychopathic! I love the smell of snuffed candle! :D

Fires are wonderful. My son, too, likes them. They burnt an effigy here for a festival recently, and it was brilliant to watch. He wanted to watch right to the end, which we almost did. We were the only ones standing there for the last 20 minutes or more.

We had a fire once in our fireplace too; not very effective as heating, except close-up, but so glorious to look at. ( def better than TV, I agree!)

:study:

I like watching things burn, maybe a little too much. I do admit I'm kind of a pyromaniac.
