I've noticed a tendency for people to keep at current topics instead of starting new ones. For me it's disappointing to see mostly the same topics when I log on each day. To reduce this problem, I often start topics of my own. I guess this is perseveration at work on many aspies' part. In my opinion, simple agreement with the original post in a topic isn't interesting enough to read five pages of. Sometimes (actually, almost all of the time) the subject of the conversation shifts. I often don't catch the chit-chat that goes on in a topic because I've stopped checking that thread long ago.

Novelty seeking is apparently a neurochemically based personality trait. I suppose I'm higher on it than most of my fellow aspies posting here on WrongPlanet.net. Actually, I lose interest in news stories that appear in the media for more than a few days (this means all the stupid scandals that the media makes a huge deal about). Since the invasion and occupation of Iraq are such a big deal, I retained interest for a few weeks instead of a few days, though. I have not really followed the war in any depth for a long time now, though. Another bomb explodes. More insurgents. Blah. Hey, at least I know there's a referendum on an Iraqi constitution coming up.

Agreed. New topics are best.

I really don't care, as long as the topic I'm commenting on holds my interest.

Ah, but aren't newer topics more likely to hold your interest than ones that have been debated for a couple of weeks already?

I like new topics better.

If a topic has 50 replies I don't bother looking there very much.

^^Yeah, same here. In fact, if a topic has more than one page, I usually can't be bothered to read all the posts, and instead tend to make a general response to the initial post. Whereas, if the topic only has a few replies, I might refer more to the other posts.

Just my two circular pieces of copper with Abraham Lincoln's likeness imprinted on them.

Certain topics I avoid once they've gotten so off track to where it's jsut a few people repeating the same things and trying to convince everyone else they're right. I think they're called debates, but they get real boring after a few pages. There are a few good ones though, the ones that keep my interest.

Some new topics, some old ones. If I'm feelng really ambitious I'll reply to five or more pages of a topic with one post and a crapload of quotes.
