Does anyone else hate the general light ambient this time of year? There's something cold and sterile about it, and it seems to light up all the dust particles flying around.

I live in Ohio so there isn't much sun during the winter. I hate having to have all the interior lights on though. I usually get depressed in the winter for lack of sun so I use a lightbox whenever I can.

It's easier for me to deal with than blinding summer sun. As for cold and sterile, that accurately describes up the fluorescent lights I deal with at work every day.

i think i know what you mean bobaloo. for me, not only is it too intense but it makes things seem unreal. when i'm in this particular light i have to keep looking at my hands to make me feel less anxious. i think the reason it has this effect is because (summer) sunlight ampifies colours but during the winter the light shining through a clouded sky gives everything a greyish-tinge.

Yes, I've noticed that too. It is worse when it snows, because the snow reflects the light, and it is dazzling even when the sun is not out!! !!

Yeah, although summer light is somewhat blinding, there is a cold intensity in direct winter sunlight, I'm not really sure how to explain it but it makes me feel like crap.
