Yes my son who has HFA. He jumps up and down when he's watching TV, it's one of his stims, and sometimes it's been so vigorous ornaments have fallen off the TV as a result of floorboards moving about. When he's jumping he holds his breath for a while, do you do that also? He makes a little "aa" noise when he begins to breath normally again. I don't jump but I did tear a muscle trying to do a handstand a few days ago.

yes grasshopper :D I hop. When I was a kid my dad would tell me that one day I would fall through the floor and into the depths of hell...he got annoyed with the hopping a lot but I didn't stop. I don't hop as much anymore but if I get really excited...boing! I'm off. XD

I used to like to jump off of things as hard as I could. Like the back porch.

Funny you do that- I can't read unless I am walking or moving. I actually take books on long walks. People think I am either nuts or great at multi-tasking.

My T told me that people with movement disorders could have trouble with the ear, thus Occupational Therapy.

I like jumping on things. I am thinking of getting one of those mini-tramps. Apparently they are good exercise.

In "The Fabric of Autism" by Judith Bluestone, author says her saving grace (crucial coping mechanism) throughout youth was her pogo stick. Sounds kinda' similar to those who recommend trampolines.
I'd always loved jumping up & down on my bed as a kid but got yelled at & punished enough to quit doing that. Sigh-I miss it, but understand that bedsprings/mattress can't take the abuse of my stomping/bouncing (not to mention I'm big & old, no longer a small kid).

When I get excited while watching something on television I'll jump up and down and flap my arms. I sometimes do it when I'm excited in generally, but mainly in front of the TV.

Yes I used to do that a lot when listening to the radio and there was a song that came on that I liked. I did that privately in my bedroom and did not try to jump up and down as hard as I could.
