How many of you with AS would describe yourselves as upbeat, cheery and verbose at the same time?

Or, are you more serious and indifferent, flat-toned and lacking in expression when you speak to others.

thx,

equinn

I'd say a mix of both. I start out upbeat and cheery and verbose, but if it goes on too long then I become flat and indifferent.

Opposite with me. I'll start out flat, but if something interests me I can get in a little groove where I'm upbeat.

I'm a very upbeat person.

I'm only upbeat, cheery, and verbose when there's only a few people around me.

My upbeat, cheery, and verbose probably still seems flat and quiet to alot of people. I'm frequently accused of being sad by strangers, even when I think I look happy. People that know me well can tell when I'm silly, excited or in a good mood, though.

I'm upbeat... to the point of annoyance. As a kid, people used to make fun of the fact that even when talking about something I love, I never 'seemed' interested, so I think I learned to over compensate. But I do notice that once one person singles me out and I'm talking to just them, I'm much more hyperactive.

Although... after a while I drone. I think NT's do it to, they just don't fixate as much as us so its less noticable.

Depends on who I'm with, and/or what mood I'm in.

When I'm by myself or around people I'm comfortable with, I'm upbeat, cheery, though not particularly verbose or not often verbose anyway. When I'm around strangers I'm even quieter and serious.

When wired out of my mind on caffeine, I'm upbeat. Otherwise, I come off as pretty serious.

The second one, always. No matter the situation.

I'm serious about my work, but also very upbeat. I don't think the two are mutually exclusive.

Both. With friends: upbeat, very talkative. Around strangers: alternates. Serious if I'm thinking and don't want to be disturbed, upbeat if I just feel like confusing people and making them talk.

It varies depending on the situation.
