Does anyone else have these kind of parents?
I remember when I was a kid, my mother would get mad at me when I say something inappropriate. She scold me and punish me for it and I be clueless. Then she talk to me later on when she be calm and tell me it was very rude.
Then in my teens it seemed to have all changed. Now the things I say that would be socially innaproppiate, she laugh about it.
Like the time when I was 17, I tried to get a boyfriend so I asked this cute 18 year old guy and I ask him if he has had a girlfriend before and if he has one now. He says he doesn't have one so I asked if he wanted to be my boyfriend. He said he was too old for me and I told him we were only nine months apart so it doesn't make that much a difference. he still said he was too old for me and I thought maybe he thinks I want sex because that is what lot of kids want so I told him I wasn't after him for sex and I only want a boyfriend. Kids started laughing.
A week later at the IEP meeting my aid points out my poor social skills and she brings up the boyfriend incident as an example and she told me I embarrassed him and I said to her "How do you know? Did he tell you or what?" and she said she saw it and I said "How?" and she said he was blushing. When my mother heard that story at the meeting, she laughed about it and said "Oh Beth" and kept on laughing. I couldn't understand what was so funny until after school my mother told me it was typical me. So naive, so innocent.

Sometimes.
I get mad at my parents if they don't tell me what in all hell they are laughing at.

Your older and when that happens nearly an adult. Of course she won't scold you for something like that, and you really didn't say anything wrong. The only thing you did wrong was not notice he was blushing. My mom laughs at me when I do something like not realize something. Its a laugh that means, for lack of a better description, kids say the darndest things.
Now hold did your mom scold you for something like that? Just yelling?
My mom either scraped soap on the top of my teeth and had to keep it in my mouth for a couple minutes or ground pepper directly on the tongue and couldn't swallow

MAN, I had the SAME kind of things happen! Now that I think about it, I think I DID see a girl blush once. I think her face did blush as she said thankyou when she realized I gave her a compliment even I didn't realize! I have been accused of blushing, though I didn't see how I could have then. Still, my mother rebuked me at times like yours did with you.
At one point I regularly had a kind of meltdown where I DID feel like putting someone's head through a wall though I certainly wouldn't. I was angry, and I let people know it. My mother later said some rolled their eyes. They clearly didn't have the same treatment. I probably represent about $10400 of DIRECT business to the average airline. You would THINK they would treat me better.
Mine were never consistent in what they did or said. They'd condemn me for something one day, then condemn me for not doing the same thing another. They often tried to reassure me by saying "everybody's different," yet would be very intollerant of my differences as compared to my sister.
My sister liked to go out and I liked to stay in. Instead of her doing her thing and me doing mine, I'd often get forced to do what she was doing! We'd often have fights about me wanting to stay home when she wanted to go out. I didn't and still don't understand why.
For example, sister wanted to go to college football games and I didn't, I got the riot act from my parents for not wanting to go and was told I'd be dragged there if I didn't. Sister would get invite for me and her to her friend's party, I don't even get the chance to turn it down because my sister accepts for me without saying a word to me.
Parents come up with reasons about how I need to get out more, or staying in is bad for me, or worse yet, since sis was trying to get into medical school at the time, I need to be supportive of her and not going everywhere with her isn't being supportive, if that makes any sense.
If she needs ownership of another person for support, she has some serious problems, more serious than any I have. However, since she had high grades, alot of friends, played in the marching band and read alot, they thought there was no way she could have problems and that I should see her as a role model. I'd rather be shot than be like her.
The funnier thing was when she moved out of the house to go away to school, my parents didn't pressure me about these things at all, just let me do what I wanted to, which was stay in, use my computer, ham radio, etc., and not go to games, parties, and so on. The times when my sister wasn't living at home were probably some of the happier times of when I lived with my parents.
Why can't they just let us be?
