Right now I'm supposed to be doing a raid in Word of Warcraft, but I can't stop reading this forum.

I've got several obsessions, but I can only focus on one at a time (since it demands most of my free time), and that will last for a while before I 'cycle' back to the others.

Sort of. One tends to weigh out in my mind until I'm reminded of the other. For example, my brain was Pulp-world until I listened to The Libertines today and remembered how much I loooved them.

Yes... But they tend to override each other depending on mood.

Yes. I have several main interest groups: music, animals, and physiology. I always enjoy learning about those things, but I also go through short, intense obsessions within those categories. I usually have two or three obsessions at a time.

I had three running at the same time several years ago: fixing my house, developing a method to write software quickly and reliably, and reading mystery novels.

I identify with this statement. When I focus on one obsession, the others are in "stand by" mode. Thanks to this, I always have one obsession to focus on. From time to time, a new obsession will enter the cycle and/or another one will leave it. I wouldn't know what to do if I ever run out of obsessions. Life would be boring, I suppose.

I can't. As a general rule:

If my mind is fully immersed in Harry Potter, I can't change to playing video games on the same day.

My obsessions can vary every few weeks or even every few days.

Currently my obsessions involve the computer (as always), as well as the logistics of my upcoming senior prom, which I actually have a date for. It's kind of odd that I spend hours thinking about what I need to say the next time I get a chance to talk with her, even though I figure everything out within a few minutes, and deviate from my plan when I actually do end up talking to her. I have probably put more thought (well, innocent thought at least) into prom then all the other guys at my school... combined.

I voted yes, but I say I can only focus on one obession at a time, but I can switch off between obessions. For instance posting in one forum for a day, then posting in another for another day.

I can also combine obessions such as photography, plants and insects. Insects are my main obession.

Combine those and I get lots of bug and flower photos.

Psychology + insects = a creative story in the works.
----------
But it is true though if I am focused on one thing that thing comsumes my thought process for the while. But I can switch off to what thing that will be depending on what urges me for the day or the hour.
