What i mean, are aspies most likely to have a certain demeaner? Like myself, I know I'm a very laid back person, it takes a hell of a lot for me to get angry, etc. (Though, actually, i get upset internally randomly by very minor issues, but i usually quickly surpress anger or being upset because i realize they're minor issues--even big issues i usually don't lose my cool).

Do many of you outwardly appear laid back and easy going (except for the shyness)?

I'm rather tense most of the time.

my few friends describe me as too laid back, with no emotion, as all i ever do is let my emotion bubble away underneath my skin but never let them out, my friends say this is really annoyin cos they can never read how i feel then comes the meltdown and they simply dont know what to do! :?

These are the two most common types I've seen:

The stares at the ground and rarely talks type; probably appears calm when talking, but no one can tell what he or she is really feeling
The loud and frantic type that doesn't understand boundaries; appears like a young and excited child in the emotion they exhibit

Believe it or not, I USED to be like that! I STILL sometimes get mocked for doing it. People STILL sometimes ask me to speak up when I have an opinion. I am the one in meetings that often says NOTHING!

Of course, the looking at the ground is generally just when I am walking, and I rarely go a day without talking.

BAP22,

You described my demeaner there pretty well also.

I seem to swing back and forth between the two main types Danielismyname described. I'm typically like Type 1 but when I'm excited or for some reason happy I can be like Type 2.

But, then again, my own sense of how I "seem" is so faulty that I couldn't tell you with an accuracy.

Probably a bit of both depending on the mood I am in & the situation.

Sometimes I just want to exist in my own head &/or go about my own business. When I am like that I don't want other people to notice I am even there, let alone to talk to me.

Other times I do get loud & excited - this is likely to be due to a need to impose my own reality on others, i.e. to force them to see the world in the same way as I am seeing it.

in public option #1, at home option #2

I act like both descriptions depending on the situation.

Same here. If something gets me on a roll there is no stopping me. My mom always gets annoyed by my habit of going on emotionally charged rants when I watch the news.

Would you say you might appear as a slight case of manic-depressive? For awhile I wondered if i had that, but then i realized my manic side was way to minor for that. That side only comes out around people i'm extremely comfortable with.

A blend of both: Think a Gomer Pyle demeanor.
