Although I seem to test positive for AS I have not had an official diagnosis. Many of the things AS people go through seem very similar to my own experiences but since the AS situation is a wide spectrum from some difficulties that can be handled in some people to a rather debilitating condition in others it is hard for me to pin down where I may be. I dislike intensely coordinating with large groups, I do not compete, and delight in being alone and working things out for myself. I find academics in general and especially philosophers to be rather unaware of the world except through language and authority which seems to me to be a very limited point of view as most of my thinking takes place visually (a kind of interior autocad) and I think with my basic sensual memories, not with words. Nevertheless I am fairly good with words and write what seems to me acceptable poetry.
What seems to me what is missed is that at least some AS people are quite aware of what most people think and what their attitudes are but find these attitudes totally out of synch with the way they think. Society in general seems to be organized to get masses of people to react in the same way so that they can be manipulated and I find this manipulation totally unacceptable.

For the sake of it.... I'll focus on your last statement in order to agree with it.
Society's manipulation of people is something that has developed over time as a sort of survival mechanism. In some respects though, it is what was responsible for the evolution of eukaroytic life on this planet. Afterall, society is like a giant amoeboid creature of itself, and people are just cells. It won't be able to function properly though until the individuality is stripped from each and every person out there....... and that is something I will not tolerate.

And I'd say... yes, you're Aspergian, irrespective of lack of diagnosis.
And no, the ability to read other peoples potential courses of action is NOT necessarily indicative of empathy... so much as an ability to rationally pre-empt them. We DO have that ability.

I've tried to understand the people around me better now that I feel I have AS. Sadly if I had to pin down ONE behavior I'd say stress sadly most College students are stressed while when I was in College I loved it. My parents come home from work and are stressed. It's sadly all about stress. :-)
