i read somewhere that aspies have great (ie unusual) reserves of stamina and physical strength, which i do.
i have always been a really fast walker, and wondered if this is a common side affect? (effect?)

i dont know why i do it- its defniatly unconscious. it's not related to where im walking- i walk the same speed if im tuired, somewhere dull, somewhre beautiful,a nd thuogh i enjoy it, dont think its necc due to liknig the physical motion or sensation- unlike swimming which def IS related to physical enjoyment.

i know i look weird striding along, but i really dont care.... anyone like this??? :?

I don't have that high a level of stamina or physical strength, but I'm definitely a fast walker. I take long strides, and also very quick ones. Part of it is that I use walking to get from one place to another, and I don't see why it should be done slowly. I want to get where I'm going, and it annoys me to be stuck behind slow-walking people. I actually find it uncomfortable to walk slowly.

I've always been a very fast walker even when I was a child, and it doesn't matter where I am either. Walking any slower than my usual pace feels like I'm taking baby steps and it drives me nuts.

I have very long legs, so I walk fast all the time.

thanks. i dont thnik its just beacuse i dont like where i am- or that it's dull. i just think fast is the NORMAL speed to walk, not the annoying run-of-the-mill slow, lumbering gait eveyone else annoys me with. i have been know to mutter at slow people i my way (and swear quietly and tut).

Yes, and I like it.

I actually walk very slowly unless I'm in a real hurry, in which case I run. I always wonder why other people are in such a hurry.

I've always been a fast walker, regardless of environment or destination (or lack thereof). I have always been invariably told to slow down, whenever I was walking with anyone else.

I attribute it more to an extreme lack of patience though. I am the same way driving, and despise needless waiting so much I would go twenty minutes out of my way to avoid a ten minute line, and consider myself coming out ahead.

I've always, always, always been a very fast walker. My whole life people yell at me to slow down so they can keep up. I'm pigeon-toed and don't have the world's longest legs either, so I'm not sure why I do it. I find it endlessly annoying to be stuck behind slow people. I think it's partial impatience - walking is to get places so why do it slowly - and partially just because that's how I walk. I can't walk slowly even if I try.

I wonder how many aspergians are in the facebook group 'I secretly want to punch slow-walking people in the back of the head'?

I walk fast especially in a any form of crowded area as to just shut out everyone around me and just steam straight through to where i am going.

I may walk up a supermarket aisle but if there are people looking at the product i want to pick up then i wont even slow down, look or wait i will just keep on rolling as if i have no intention of stopping.

On a physical level i like to compare myself to the Cheetah......Built purely for short intense bursts of power and strength....

yes,

dealing with the rush-hour on-foot is excellent practice for avoiding slow-walking people

I walk pretty fast most of the time. Exceptions would be for walking a job or being in a Museum.

I'm a fast walker too. It's about 1/3 inpatience, 1/3 being lanky and 1/3 natural inclination.
I'm terribly frustrated by supermarkets for this exact reason. I stride up and down the aisles, while the rest of the shoppers dander along and cause blockages.
