The idea: a website, where people post links to (secretly) recorded videos and audio files of their therapy sessions. It would be a great way to anonymously expose those psychologists who act unethically, unprofessionally or are plain mediocre. Of course, for legal reasons, we would not release their names or show their faces.

I had that idea when I was a little kid(To spread info about the good/bad that is done). UNFORTUNATELY, that would put the lawyers out of business, and bring peace to the world! So what did the lawyers do? They made it ILLEGAL! If you do that, you better make sure you have a GREAT lawyer, lots of money, and LOTS of evidence and paperwork.

ALSO, MANY may lie! With Ebay, for example, they have a reputation indicator. Nobody DARES to say anything bad because, if they do, the OTHER person could retaliate! That means it isn't all that great an indicator!

It would have to be anonymously hosted. There are technologies that make this workable. Otherwise, I am afraid the lawyers would get on it.

I like the idea in that neuro/psych (un)professional would then be accountable. But, yes, it's not feasible and probably unethical....sigh - legalities. To protect the identity of those not-innocent, ie: the freaking-nuts meltdown-inducing PsyD from heck who's WAY overpaid. I've done him, btw....he's so fired. Surrender Dorothy.

Host it in the country where The Pirate Bay and Wikileaks are hosted. You'll be untouchable there.

And along the way you either blatantly lie to the professional about yourself or expose personal stories about yourself?

Either doesn't sound any reasonable to me. Lying to a professional right away to do them in (no matter who they are) or being al truthful and exposing crucial information about your personality and lifetime (and condition) to the whole world.

Because I wouldn't expect this to stay anonymously at all. 'Social network' beats even every lawyer, especially on the Internet.

If your so unhappy with your psychologist, just don't go to them if you don't like what they say. Recording someone without their knowledge, would bring up alot of legalities for you, and a psychologist would be more financially able to bring you up on a lawsuit.

I'd've loved to have done that with one counsellor (the in-house one at my GP) I had who tried to get me signed up to her religion. No, I wasn't misinterpreting what she said. Unless "I know this preacher who is really good and could help you. You can come with me if you like" had some other meaning I'd not worked out.

To those of you concerned about the legalities of doing this, how would a psychologist relatiate if their identities are kept secret? They can't file charges if they can't prove they are the persons featured in the video. Even if they could successfully prove it, I doubt they could prove that the video caused them harm, since their identities were never revealed.

Firstly I thought you were kidding - but if you are seriously considering - don't! This is at least disingenous. If you want to video an appt. w/ your psychologist, you would have to have their consent and the intended use of the video contents made mutually known. We don't want you to be in trouble, Mw99 (envisioning WP bailing you out of jail)! This could be considered exploitative and violates privacy....don't.

Like spudnik wrote, if you are displeased with your psychologist, just leave &/or find another.
