What does everyone think of the autism-awareness ribbon?

It makes me sick.

Bright colours do that to me... it's a sensory thing.

Normally I like colors, but that ribbon is too colorful even for me! And why must it be rainbow colors of all colors?

Wow...I'm amazed that they couldn't come up with something better. Talk about over stimulation....

Again...wow...that's terrible.

I like the colors but not the idea of a puzzle. I am a person! Again with the colors, isn't rainbow already the homosexual pride ribbon's colors?

I was just wondering if anyone finds it offensive. I was thinking about displaying some.

Some do find them to be offensive because they interpret them in a different way.

I only know that the puzzle pieces and colours represent the diversity of the spectrum and also symbolise how the many different autistic people, their families and friends are affected in their daily lives and connected by autism spectrum disorders. (And puzzles due to the fact that ASDs are still puzzling people, people don't know everything about autism yet, many don't know/don't understand autism, it's hard for them to understand autistic people etc.)

So, now I do know that some people find the ribbon to be offensive, because they say they understand that the puzzle pieces say they're a puzzle due to their autism. So people say that they're a person and not a puzzle of course.

I wouldn't be offended if you displayed it. Feel free.

I just personally think the thing is nauseating. But for all I know, someone thinks my pic is nauseating, and it's space :P

... I take a look at it and it makes me think of Lesbians with Breast Cancer.

There is nothing about it denoting autism, and whoever came up with it should be shot upside the stomach with a 12-gauge. No mercy.

I do think it's offensive. It reinforces that autistic people should be pitied. The other causes with ribbons are diseases and things related to war, like MIA and POW. Why does autism have to be grouped with these things? The puzzle pieces are stupid because people think we're a puzzle, either in that we're hard to figure out or that we're puzzles that are missing a few pieces, like we're not whole people. I'm pretty sure the puzzle piece ribbon was originally the symbol of the Autism Society of America before it became just a generic symbol of autism, and that organization has really gone downhill as of late.

i dislike it, and all the ribbons. it's a concept that's been so overused that it's trite. there's pink ribbons, black ribbons, flag ribbons, rainbow ribbons....

If they're going to bother with anything colourful, they could at least use a Rubics Cube.... couldn't they?
