I found a bunch of letters about me dating back 8 years this was 2001 i was tested about my problems in school etc apparently i scored 66 which would mean I'm ret*d wouldn't it?

Performance IQ 53
Verbal IQ 87
it says my IQ profile shows me to be dyspraxic i never know that one though it did say i had good verbal skills and memory for basic literacy skill acquisition

I am 22 now and score about 100 in online tests have i got better or the reason for my low iq score could have been what i was going through at the time?

as have been diagnosed with AS,cannot be MR,they would only diagnose it at the point after the end of borderline MR,it is probably more likely that the as and other things biased the test-this is very common when have some sort of autism.

I don't believe so because results can be misleading a lot of times. However, I hate the word/lab "ret*d".

If your scoring around 100 nowadays then we can be fairly certain that you are NOT ret*d.

Autistic people tend to have trouble communicating what they know, however on average this issue fades with age as we learn how to communicate (although at a slower pace then normal). As a result the average IQ score for an autistic adult is much higher then the average IQ score for an autistic child (after it's controlled for age of course).

You simply had trouble with intelligence tests as a child, however as an adult it is no longer so much of a problem. So the IQ scores you are getting back now are probably more accurate.

I think you should just forget about those old scores, since it is old news and just making you feel badly. You said recently you scored 100 on a test, that means you have average intelligence, and that's good! Even if you did score badly back then, you've obviously improved, so you should feel good about yourself! :)

It doesn't say what your overall IQ was. My verbal IQ was low and my overall score. But it seemed to have gone up every year. I scored a 57 on verbal and then it was in the seventies when I was 10. It went up in the 90's when I was 11. I don;t know what my score was when I was diagnosed or what it be now if I took it.

Could there be a reason why you scored low on IQ tests? Were you delayed in anything?

Sometimes it's tough to find someone's true IQ because their mind works different or they are delayed. Speech delay can cause you to score low and development delay.

I can't say anything about performance IQ because it was pretty high when I was 8 and 10. 106 and 107.

The testing is gear to NTs communication strengths. It is the same (though changing, slowly) with the same kinds of tests for children.

By the way you phrase your subject, you seem to think this applies to you now. Is that how you feel, despite the evidence to the contrary?

How does dyspraxia show up in an IQ test...aren't most of the symptoms of it more of a physical thing? :?

My guess is the tester came to that conclusion. If one messes up the performance parts that you can mess up because of (neurological) motor coordination issues the tester could figure out it's because of dyspraxia.

Online IQ tests produce artificially inflated results. They are meaningless.

In order to have any validity, an IQ test must be administered in accordance with certain clinical standards.

Then there are plenty of arguments about the reliability and applicability of these professionally accepted IQ tests.

For instance, studies indicate that IQ is strongly correlated with childhood environment. Socioeconomic status, quality of education, and various details of home life have been shown to influence IQ.

Studies also indicate that stress tends to lower performance on IQ tests. Naturally, the degree of this effect varies between individuals and circumstances.

Contrary to popular belief, IQ can (and tends to) change throughout a person's life time. I read that one study indicated that as a person grows up, their IQ grows closer to that of their parents at the same age. IQ can also change throughout life depending on various factors that boil down to how you use your brain.

On top of all of this, there are several professionally accepted IQ tests. In the general population, these tests yield similar results for each individual. But in specific populations, such as the autistic population, performance tends to be far higher on IQ tests that are not verbally-based (such as Raven's Progressive Matrices).

To sum it all up: IQ is complex and somewhat controversial. Most people probably have more immediate and important concerns than the specifics of their IQ scores.

My non-verbal IQ was last measured at 123, my verbal IQ 86 and my working memory was 77.
But when I was a young child my verbal IQ was so low they could not put an precise figure on it and wait a few years. I was said to be a very quiet child and a slow developer. I could have gotten the "ret*d" label as a young child have have to wear that lable for the rest of my life.
