When you're stressing out, or on the way to a meltdown, do you notice any specific signs?
Do you feel like you're getting hotter? Arms are 'buzzing'? Ears are cottoned?
Do you feel like you're shrinking? Or are you completely unaware in any way?

I'm just curious, because I sometimes look back and notice at least the first three at times.

Wow. I think I'm the exact opposite. I start getting itchy all over, like I'm about to break out from head to toe in hives. I actually did once many years ago. An adrenaline injection after four straight days of it was the only thing that got rid of them. It's only because of that hive bout back then that I know what I'm feeling now when I get over stressed is massive amounts of histamines.

Damn that sucks. Maybe you lack adrenaline?

That would cause symptoms though, I'm sure...O_O

You know, I never thought about that, but you may have something. Is there such a thing? I'm normally very low energy and even in emergency situations I'm always cool as a cucumber instead of hyped up like most people (which is usually attributed to elevated adrenaline). I'm low energy all the time too.

Symptoms? I think elevated histamines might just BE the symptom. I don't know very much about it though. Now you got me thinking maybe I should look into it, 'cause this histamine problem is now almost constant, and not just when I'm stressed. In fact, it causes stress. Oddly though, I never break out in hives anymore.

i get mega hot & sweat profusely - its more noticeable esp when in a relatively cool environment.

but it's been said before - i may well just have social anxiety + semantic pragmatic disorder - rather than aspergers/autism.
just my 2 cents.

My neck starts to get stiff, I start to get "tunnel vision", I have trouble differentiating sounds, have to ask people to repeat what they asked me or said to me.

I feel like I'm gonna pee myself if I'm late and it goes away the second I know I made it.

I've always had a hard time describing the sensation. If you've ever had an electric shock it sort of feel like the after effects of that. Generally I feel a great deal of anxiety along with some depression. I get very tired and it becomes exceedingly difficult to work.

I wouldn't say I ever really melt down. I've always been the sort of person who bottles up feelings and I suppose the anger and frustration dissipates before I blow up. If I can't get away from people I just try to hold myself together until I can be alone.

You might be an Aspie if...
You find something interesting on forums about stressing and Adreneline, and are gone for two or three days while you research it... and come back still considering "just a sec" to have been the right way to log off (and everyone else does too).

Right, sorry I went AWOL! Had to go out for a while...

There are disorders of catecholamines, yes. Can't find much information I'm afraid, but some might be of use...

http://www.ndrf.org/catechol.htm

There are 2 there that cause lack of catecholamines (http://www.ndrf.org/tetrahyd.htmand http://www.ndrf.org/dopamine.htm), but they are severe ones. I'm wondering if it's possible there's a milder version that would cause symptoms like you describe.

try this experiment...in freefall you get a rush of adrenaline,so when you feel no stress jump from a hieght your comfortable with(like jumping off stairs or a car) then incress the hieght.then when you feel stressed out start from a lower hieght and incress(?)the hieght.i do this for my allergies, when my breathing gets restricted, for the adrenaline rush to open up my passage ways(never let anyone give you prednizone, they will tell you, you need it or you will die.....looks like im still alive?.......lieing co@#suc@#$.

Lol yeah you don't want to take those steroid hormones unless you actually need them to live. Prednisone > suppression of your own adrenal activity > adrenals turn to s**t. Then you are dependent on the synth stuff.
