I always have to recommend "The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome", or probably about anything else by Dr. Atwood. I didn't really understand myself until I read this book.
That is the book I'm in the middle of now. I bought it the day before I met with my Dr. who then also recommended the book.
Gee wiz, Wurd- any chance you'd go for an old guy like me?
How old are we talking? If the age in your blog is correct, we're some 9 years different, which is a little older than I usually go for (I wouldn't call you old), but I can make exceptions. But you'll have to woo me first. :p
Also, are you really serious? I can never tell on the Internet.
So, um, getting back to books. I've found several for parents and teachers, but none were really useful to me. The books for teachers are all pretty much about identifying ASD, and the ones for parents are all about dealing with tantrums, which is okay if that's what you need. The ones directed at Aspies themselves or at whoever in general are probably going to be the most useful. Dr. Atwood also wrote one for doctors, which is probably good if you can handle it. But his complete guide explains that it's basically the same thing in simpler terms. There are also a lot of autobiographies, but most of them seem to make out ASD to be some horrible thing that it isn't.
Anyway, I suggest you just look at any library or book store. If they have any, they'll probably have just about every useful book there is on the subject, because there aren't that many.
