This guy is making outrageous claims about curing whatever ails your brain and has eleven clinics scamming people:

Wow the Wikipedia page reads like a hate program against Dr Amen..odd thing is that Amens work with SPECT scans was being used long before he ever came out about his big business approach to helping people .
Have personally used some of the research previous to Dr Amens , coming out and laying claim to the use of SPECT scans to treat issues that might be actually brain related . Was informed of a Dr. Brian Jennings of Santa Monica , Calif. , work in brain mapping, using SPECT scans , with specifically towards the identification of regions of the brain. That appear to have little or low blood flow to identify a common feature in chronically depressed individuals.
Based on this info the FDA allowed development of rTMS therapy . repetitive Transcranial magnetic stimulation.
Which has become its own business .For treating depression . Based on brain mapping research . Which is considered a good treatment and recognized for depression.
Could go into much more detail on this based on personal experience, but might appear as a Wall of Text

In my case I don't see my brain as having enough wrong with it to make such an investment look worthwhile, and then there's the palpable doubt as to whether the treatment really does any good beyond a placebo effect. The claimed benefits of the intervention seem suspiciously all-encompassing, and there's too much of a "just trust the man / just trust the philosophy" flavour about it. I don't discount the merit of a holistic approach to health, but I generally find specifically-targeted interventions easier to think about and experiment with, because it's more straighforward to test them out.

But at the end of the day it's up to the individual to decide for themselves whether the costs and risks are worth whatever hope of benefit they think exists. People in desperate health situations often try long shots to get relief, and I suppose that's logical enough.

Looking at his educational history I find it rather sweet and quite fitting.

Ah, the Hebrew word that means "I'm not making it up, honestly."
