I have a good idea what male geeks are like, but until recently I was not really aware that female geeks existed. Can anybody tell me more about what female geeks are like?

I noticed a spot in my local paper about the lack of female geeks today, i'll have to read it and get back to you.

Good question.

I've met female geeks who wear thick glasses and baggy T-shirts, watch anime at parties, and argue over the semantics of insults normal people have never even heard of (kind of like male geeks...)

Then there is the female geek I met recently, a computer technician, who was a well-dressed fox with a sexy Russian accent and curves that made one's jaw hit the floor. 8O

I think the pattern here is pretty wide.

I'm female, and have been called a geek and "tomboy" because i'm obsessed with computers (first computer= c64 8) ) ,gadgets and linux,i've known of quite a few NT females with the same type of interest-especially on the larger linux forum communities.
I don't need or wear sellotaped glasses,I wear the same casual, soft clothing,I like some sports, albeit on TV=premiership football+NFL and i'm infinately crap at maths (or are those nerd steriotypes?)

Both genders are the same when it comes to steriotypical geek interests.

They like anime and computers.

Often they don't dress up or make an effort to look nice. They usually hang out with male geeks.

They talk about anime and computers, and generally only have guys as friends.

Female geeks....some say they are hard to find...but I say they're looking in the wrong places. They seem to hang out with, get this, OTHER female geeks! 8O

Do geeks in general like Anime?
Cos I'm a geek/nerd and I don't like Anima to the extent that I've seen in others... 8O

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on here...

Are we talking about "geeks" or "nerds" when refering to computers et al.? I'm mean, I'm pretty geeky. Maybe even a little nerdy if you take out the computer buff requirement.

Which are we talking about? I thought geeks were social misfits who like weird things. And nerds were also social misfits, intelligent, and like computers and math and more nerdy things.

Hmmm... I guess I could be a Psychology nerd. But in general, I am probably closer to a geek.
