I am learning to drive and one of my main issues is freaking out when there are vehicles/people near by. I also freak out when my nephew hits his head since I worry that he's seriously hurt. (and yet when my older sisters 8&6 fall I snicker and laugh since I know it was THERE fault and they shouldn't have been RUNNING TO BEGIN WITH!) :-)

I pretty much can't drive because any time I have to make a quick decision I lock up, or whenever someones barking instructions at me. Also, while trying to learn to drive I've came really close to getting in accidents, and after I drive I feel completely physically/mentally exhausted.

I freak out on occasion. The most notable time was when a certain member of my family told me that I HAD to drive through a severe thunderstorm. I totally lost it, and devolved quickly into a screaming/crying sure-enough b*tch-fit.

Moral to the story:

Forcing someone who has a severe phobia to deal directly with the object of that phobia is generally not a good idea...unless one enjoys getting popped repeatedly in the jaw during the struggle.

I freak out when I have to go somewhere or do something I wasn't expecting to do. Like all of sudden and you don't have time to prepare what you gonna do.

I can freak out quite a bit. One time, I got a call from the Orange County Police Department, and it turned out all they were asking for was to donate money for one of their causes, and I got really anxious, thinking they were out to get me (when it turns out they were asking everyone).

I also freaked out when I got my grade for Algebra II before the finals, and I was sitting at a 68 (a D+, if you will), and I got scared, because I needed 150 points on the final to get a C (I did thankfully).

Yeah, I'm a worry wort and easily freaked out.

Is driving such a big deal? I've always felt like an idiot for not being able to drive but my friends call me an old woman just becuz of how much I freak out when someone else drives, I can imagine doing it myself.

Except for being in a couple accidents, and a few close-calls, I am a relatively calm driver.

Not too much any more. I went really philosophical awhile back (as you can probably tell from my signature) and that's really helped out.

An odd side effect of this is that the manager at local pizza shop is probably wondering why I don't seem even slightly agitated when they find out they've missed the order I sent online for the 15th time.

Glad to know I'm not the only one and on the poster about the philisophical thing I try to "shut down" my mind so to speak. I find this to help. :-) Hopefully I can start using this technique more and it doesn't come off as stupid/odd. (It's hard to do though!! !)
