Ive been reading up a lot on the whole theory of 2012 and the great change waiting to happen when the Earth completes its 26,000 year cycle. I must say that a lot of it adds up to history and other theories from other ancient civilizations other than the Mayan. The website www(.)2012online(.)org seems to have some good videos that explain some of the theories pretty well, also youtube has some good videos. Has anybody else been keeping track of this. I just dont know what to think, because so many disreagard it, while others like myself believe in it with such passion. Please, I would like the input of everyone that has actually taken the time to as least look into it and not just disregard it without researching it.

bunch of crazy people that are easy to stir up will make it happen or try to at least but it ends up turning into one of those situations where you say "Hey, knock it off!" and they hang their head in shame and go back inside of their house.

The idea that the world might end, or that there might be some big catastrophe in the future, makes the days you live now seem more important. People tend to live more the way they want to live, to make their lives count, when they think of catastrophes; and maybe keeping in mind the possibility of disaster helps them live that way.

If it didn't produce so much needless fear, I'd almost say it's a good thing.

It is true, of course, that a world-ending catastrophe could happen; and if you want to keep that in mind and make today count, then go for it--but don't forget the future, either. It just as well might not happen.

i never put alot of stock into those end-of-the-world theories. yes, the world WILL end, it HAS to end sometime, you know? why does it matter if it ends tomorrow? what do you have to live for if the world is gonna end? yeah, ive got some things planned for next week id like to be there for, but if the world ended tomorrow they wouldnt be there either, so its all good :D im not missing much, you know? everything had an end, and just knowing when itll end shouldnt really affect much.

edit: more specifically, i dont see a point in needless worry. im not a person whos easy to make worried ^^;; pretty laid-back, i am. when the end of the world comes, ill prolly be doign my normal thing, honestly, no sense in dying in a state of panic.

Let's talk about these theories in January 2013.

Sod all will happen in 2012. The world didn't end 26,000 years ago, so I don't expect it to end in 2012.

The world will not end on 12-21-2012, at least not according to the Mayans, who knew about as much about our planet's future demise as Gordon-Michael Scallion, St. Malachy, Sylvia Browne, Edgar Cayce, or Nostradamus; namely, nothing. Too bad the Mayans couldn't predict the collapse of their own civilization.

Argghgh, ok. The Mayans did NOT predict the end of the world in 2012; the predicted the end of this cycle, because it's the end of the 26,000 year age. Which is more a calculation than a prophecy. The only prediction really in it was that they didn't continue their calendar beyond that date because they thought mankind wouldn't need it any more due to some kind of spiritual shift on Earth in consciousness... nothing more. It deals with energy rather than physicality. It's supposed to be a good thing; don't hijack it with fear!!

Let's see ... my AAA calendar ends on December 31st of this year. This means that the American Automobile Association has prophesized that the world will end on New Year's Eve. Sure ... that makes sense ... NOT!

Just a feeling....

Imagine.

It is 31st December 2012, everybody's worried. This is the last chance for the world to end in 2012. But then the clock strikes midnight and... nothing happens! Everybody parties extra hard, the entire planet takes two whole days off work to celebrate.

Then on January 3rd as people return to their jobs tired but hopeful, a giant asteroid falls out of the sky. Everyone realises at once that the Universe was screwing with them for one final time.

It's the way things work, I'm telling you.

Hmph! I'm still not convinced. What about those people who take an entire month off - will there be another asteroid just for them?

(Remember, any sufficiently well-constructed parody of a pseudo-scientific claim is indistinguishable from the original pseudo-scientific claim.)

Oh, the other people will be doing something ironic. Like saying: "I finally paid off my mortgage! Time to start living!" or buying a new calendar.

i think the person was joking... maybe a little bit of sarcasm, or theorizing something ironic.
