I would really like to get professionally diagnosed, but I don't know how to ask my parents to let me do so. The one time I asked my mother if she could send me to a psychiatrist she freaked out and asked me "is there something we did wrong? Did we go wrong with you somewhere?"

Any advice? This would also go towards helping my best friend tell her mother about her aspergers.

Thanks in adavance.

It looks like you are going to need to reassure your mom a lot that she did nothing "wrong" with you. You were born with a little different brain configuration and, unfortunately, it takes a psychiatrist to make the diagnosis. Your mom can pm me if she wants to converse with an adult with asperger's who has parented children with asperger's and autism.

I'm afraid she'll just think I'm wnating attention or making excuses or won't believe me or something...

Very simply, it is like the dstribution of abilities is different, senses may be skewed, and all that leads to obsessions, preferences, and desire for some consistency and odd things. So it isn't because of anything she did.

My Opinion:

As far as “professionally” goes, you’re probably more professional than they are when it comes to what you have, assuming you made a sincere effort to learn. If you really want it in print, as they say: You “take in a paper what gives you useful hints for the home”…. “they gives you the cure for dandruff”.
