I have a history of not being able to control the volume of my voice sometimes...especially when excited or being social..my voice just gets louder and louder....and so on...

Wondering how many on the board have the same issue....

I mean there have been times where it is very difficult to talk...vs...times when I find I am SPEAKING VERY LOUDLY AND CAN"T SEEM TO CONTROL IT...

Just for the record, "I gravitate between speaking loudly and quietly" doesn't make sense - I think you mean "vacillate". One gravitates to something, not between two things.

But that said, I am one of those people who vacillates between being too loud and too quiet. I'm extremely quiet unless I get excited about something (like a conversation about one of my special interests) and then I get very loud without knowing it, and louder the longer I talk.

Even when I'm shouting and I think I'm loud, I'm really not. You think all those tantrums I had as a kid, screaming too, I'd have a stronger voice? Nope. Quiet old me.

I tend to talk too loud but not like the girl in Mozart and the Whale but my mother says sometimes I do talk that way.

in the past I have spoke loudly about a subject that I had strong views on.
but, it was one of my A.S. traits that I managed to learn to avoid over time.

I'm always told to quiet down or that I am killing someone's head by talking so I guess I am a loud talker.

I'm generally a quiet guy. Even with most friends. There are however a few people that tell me to calm down CONSTANTLY when I am around them, and that's not rudeness on their part. I get "excited" I guess you could say. My brother, my best friend, and my closest friend are the people I'm loud with.

For me I tend to speak softly. But when I'm talking to a person long enough my voice goes up and down depending on how they are speaking. If I'm talking to someone and they raise their voice I do too, without thought. It's just part of my mimicing actions of those around me. Sometimes I'm aware of it or controlling it and other time not.

I managed to regulate it. Hopefully, enough.

But I always spoke to loudly. I didn't realise I was loud, probably a combination of CAPD and regulation issues.

On top of that I could not whisper. When I tried to, I just mouthed the words. When I tried to speak a little louder, I already spoke at a normal volume again.

I vaccilate between speaking normally and speaking even more normally.

I find either extreme pretty annoying.

Quiet talkers always sound like they're trying to FORCE you to listen to them more closely - which makes them come off as thinking they're really important.

Loud talkers come off as self-important and believing that the rest of the world loves the sound of their voice as much as they do.
IOW, socially needy.

Quiet, it's frustrating and I frequently have to repeat myself when talking
