I see people frequently ask or state things that are not due to autisem,
asking or thinking they may be related due to ignorance.
but many times its a normal confusion and people are just feeling left out or misunderstood.
a lot of this is due to lack of social education or just plain adolesent confusion.
This is nothing new, its always been this way and I see it all the time here on this forum.

Any thoughts on the matter?.

I think we should devote ourselves to being more of a research and support network, and less of a chat zone.

If we searched through all the materials here, and then organized what was most relevant, probably the answers to most peoples problems are already here. The problem is those threads are buried in last years conversations, and theres no set of stickies with long lists of tables of contents.

My suggestion is that we generate lists of tables of contents; ie

Thread x1; This thread has some good ideas for dealing with coworkers
linkto thread x1

Thread x2; This thread has some good ideas for dealing with depression
linkto thread x2

Thread x3; this thread has some good ideas for expanding aspie hyper interests into things that are more practical
linkto thread x3

and so on.

A long time ago many diseases were lumped into general names due to a lack of understanding. You might want to check this out to see what I mean.

There is no reason not to suspect that we are still doing the same thing today for the same reason.
As for “just plain adolescent confusion”. I am far from an adolescent being in my fifties. I don’t know what you mean by “social education” but I can assure you I didn’t grow up in a cave.

Not at all.
A rose is a rose, but it's different through the eyes of Asperger's. This is a place to sort it all out.
A way to educate each other. How many times to you need to re-invent the wheel? Every individual needs to reinvent it for himself.

That's exactly what we are doing. A chat zone is an informal "research and support network." The hard part is finding terminology. I feel ____ -- what do you call that?

You have just re-invented the "search" feature, which we already have. Once you figure out the right buzz words, it's all here.
