When you find yourself pondering whatever it is you find yourself pondering, do you do so to a locational backdrop ?

I mean, do you habitually find yourself in a familiar location like a favourite room or building or street or place in the country - in your mind ?

I know I do.
But what about you ?

I suppose I do... especially when I'm soaking in the bathtub.

Well sometimes I imagine I'm flying fightercraft in space and fighting the power, and some related things.

I remember when I was younger (possibly influenced by watching Outlaw Star and Interstella 5555) imagining space with all the colors, planets and rings, the sea of stars, etc....

Anyone see the Space Art posted on deviantart?

kind've like that. Again, I remember thinking this way a little when I was younger...barely now; possibly why I love space art so much (and the Movie Interstella 5555!;)

Well, if I ponder a wait at the airport, it is like I am THERE! I can look around, and find a shortcut, etc... If it is a math problem, NOPE!

No, I'm more likely to wander physically when pondering (I like to walk/pace when I think).

No, but I often return to the same place (that i have never seen before in real life) when I am dreaming. I am never sure if I'm dreaming of the same place or the dream simply generates a feeling of familiarity that the memory part of my brain attaches to the setting when I wake up....

I think for me, most of the time I'm rehashing past situations. What could I have said different? How could I have done that better? What did I do wrong?

So probably the "location" is the wherever it happened, though I'm never focused on it.

I really spend too much time thinking about that stuff.

Rehash, a favorite pastime of mine. Not sure about that location thing tho. Really never stopped and thought about that.

ohh god... rehash............... I always come up with a much better response after the conversation is over and I've had time to process it when I was less frustrated

Yeah, exactly. Though, I've found that after so many years of this, that even though this rehashing wears me out physically and mentally, I've managed to remember a lot of things that I can use "in the moment", so it does come in handy. Not sure its worth the tremendous effort, but it does seem to help eventually.
