I am about 6'0 145 and really don't get a lot of respect. If a guy is muscular or even average size they get more respect. Two people with different statures can say the exact same thing in whatever situation, and the person that is normal/bigger will get more respect from the other person.

A person can be a complete idiot, moron, creep, dork, jerk and if they are big, they will still get respect.

awh you seem upset..

my advice to you is.. workout!

and I agree by the way.. I've been on a personal program to gain weight but the onl yway I ca do it is by doin chinups and stuff.. its workin! just eat lots of protein.. workout every other day or something. :P but if you're tall, I can see how much harder it might be.

It also depends on a lot of things, not just stature.. if you're a skinny person.. well then, you'll just have to carry a gun around with you.. they'll learn to respect what you say

Yea. It is difficult for me to keep on weight. Someone mentioned in another thread that people with AS don't have a lot of muscle mass. Not sure if that is true or not.

I have worked out, but with no real results. I might have to get a trainer.

I DOUBT that! I went through most of my life not being considered strong, but ONCE stopped going to the gym because I maxed out a lot of machines. I mean 250 on the leg extension, MORE on the leg press, and I won't even tell you what I did on the calf raise. I didn't even believe it. And that was BEFORE I weighed as much as I do now(I ended up getting a sedintary lifestyle, and weigh a lot now because of fat. A bad aortic valve means I probably won't try to duplicate that again)

Anyway, three of the big "secrets" are proper diet(including enough of he right aminos, and carbs), and at least a days rest for a given muscle group. Use a LOT of weight a few times.

BTW If you do it right, it really isn't that bad. LESS "pain" and less boring. Of course, you want to use machines or a spotter, since the point is to quickly go JUST past your limit.

Autism and hypotonia tend to go hand in hand. I have always been thin but I'm weak. I also seem to have a smaller appetite than most so I don't eat much. I think the small appetite might be due to finding most foods unpalatable. Most foods I'd rather near-starve than eat.

I don't think hypotonia and weakness are the same thing. A bad appetite DOES lead to low muscle gain.

Well not really I disagree. It mostly depends on your personality and how you carry yourself. If you come off as a good person and stand up for yourself then you will earn respect. It doesn't matter if you're as short as 5'6 or as tall as 7 feet tall. But as far as fighting well the bigger person will least likely to get messed with because of their size. But thats nothing to do with respect.

I am 5'6" and 105 lbs. It was horrible growing up (didnt actually hit 5'6" till I was 20 years old). Definitely got picked on alot when I was young. But once into the real world, I have never had a problem with not being respected due to my height. It helps that I was the smartest person in every engineering class. I dont know what effects being short and average intelligence would have.

Frankly, in my book, intelligence is something worthy of respect. Height/weight isn't something worthy of respect.

Adding to that: hypotonia is low muscle tone.

Not low muscle mass.

Of course, no exercise of muscles can reduce the muscle mass for every person.

Well I have always been skinny and tall, I have often felt of my hight as a bit of a burden, this has caused me to hunch at times where people are behind me and I lower my head. And I often apear shorter then I am, and my younger brother now gets told he is the tallest, but when I am chalenged in a battle of hight I stretch myself out to full. I feel that it is a bit of instincts that some people feel domineerd my taller people, and if I see someone taller then me talking I try to stretch myself out.

In height of it all topic

It did not hurt Obama being slender. For men, it is HEIGHT.

Many women I know state they would not look at a man less than six feet tall.

I am not of that ilk.

My son is the same height as Tracker but bulkier, as he is into bodybulding. He did this so he would not be bullied. Without the height, short men have to do other things to get noticed. NoTiced. It is an NT thing.

I do not judge people by appearance, but I know this is what NT people do. I am Aspie.

Heh, heh. Try being short. Short people get no respect. They often get treated as children, which is not really so bad at times. :D
