i feel the Aspie mind is well suited to answering riddles, so i wanted to put this to the test.

here are the rules. i'm going to post one riddle to start things off. if someone has an answer, quote the original riddle and post your answer. if it's right, you have to post a riddle of your own answered the same way and so on.

with that out of the way, i'll get things started with one of my favorites.

Two guards at a gate are suspicious of a known thief who comes by their gate every day. Every day they check his wheelbarrow and find nothing so they have no choice but to let him through. But they KNOW he stole something. What is the thief stealing?"

Is he stealing the wheelbarrow? If I'm right I'll post a riddle (probably really simple for most but anyways).

their time? either that or it is...nothing...or something. 'KNOW' is suspect me thinks? Is he a thief of knowns. Those damn known thieves are always thieving knowns. he is a stealer of their certainty, after a while that is going to affect their sanity. So he could be stealing their sanity, or my sanity from trying to solve this riddle, because I'm not that good at riddles but i took at as a challege to prove myself wrong...

Yea *does happy dance*

on to the riddle/puzzle:

There's this farmer who has a fox, a rabbit and a cabbage and he has to cross a river. The problem is that he can only fit one of these in his boat at a time. How does he get across the river with all the above intact?

He takes the rabbit across and leaves it. He goes back and gets the cabbage and brings it to the other side. He takes the rabbit back with him to the other side and switches it with the fox. He brings back the fox, leaves it, and then goes to get the rabbit.

Not sure what it's asking, but maybe the rabbit eats the cabbage, the fox eats the rabbit, and he puts the fox in his boat?

This one is kind of wordy... sorry in advance.

There are three black hats and two white hats in a box. Three people each take a hat out of the box with their eyes closed. They stand in a line facing forward with their eyes still closed and put on their hats. They open there eyes. Each person can see what color hats the people in front of him are wearing, but not his own, or the people behind him. The person in the back of the line can see the front two people's hats, the middle person can see the front person's hat. The person in front can't see anyone's hat. Each person tries to guess their hat color without moving. The back person says "I don't know." The middle person says "I don't know." The front person says "I know."

What color is the front person's hat, and how did he know what color it is? Remember, he knew for sure, probability doesn't count.
