QUESTIONNAIRE: Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/theoneshow/article ... vert.shtml

I scored a ten (10).

How does this relate to Asperger's?
Does it mean anything?

I scored a 13, extremely introvert.

I would think most people with Asperger's are introverts.

When I read the subject of this thread, I assumed that the person posing the question was unclear what is Asperger's. I then thought about the film "Mozart and the Whale." The character played by Radha Mitchell (based on Mary Newport) was an extrovert. Jerry Newport ("The Whale") said in an interview that the film was basically accurate. Could someone as extroverted as Mary Newport be Aspie? I think so. The spectrum includes a wide range of tendencies, and many Aspies do not have all the classic traits.

Interesting question. I am, (like most here, I suspect) an introvert.

39.

I want to add:

If extroverted as taken as meaning being energised according to it's original definition, I'm extrovert. being with people, I feel super energised if nothing is going on that affects my autism negatively. (Certain overload, sensory discomfort.)

If extroverts means loving people, relating to them, being emotionally close to people and, most importantly, having typical social skills, then I'm introvert. That's the new and popular definition.

I tend to stick with the old one though.

I've been interested in this topic professionally for quite a while now -- I routinely give my Aspie clients the MBTI and with one or two exceptions, they always 'type out' as Introverts.

Remember though, that being an introvert does not necessarily mean that you are shy and withdrawn -- what it really means is that you rely on your inner world for your thought process. For example, I'm a strong extrovert, and I do my best thinking 'out loud' or by writing things down. My son, who is an Aspie, does all his thinking internally -- he has had difficulty in putting those thoughts down on paper -- making the leap from internal to external. However, he is a very gregarious and outgoing person.

Interesting stuff!

I am definitely an extravert, I love dancing, singing but on my own, don't like to share singing with someone else so much or holding a body for dancing, I am dancing but in my own world whether at home or in a disco

Did any of you see the Ads by Google that popped up when you came to this page? It's for a book called Popular Prick, and teaches you how to be an extrovert so you won't be a loser!

What a PRICK indeed!! !

I'm pretty sure the guys I have been dating have all read this book....

That's a really interesting definition, I think!

By that I'm extrovert. I need to say them, write ideas down, manifest them in order to fine tune them, organise them, observe their functionality. Just saying them out loud is enough to find mistakes or new theories, there needn't be a person talking to me.

That's probably because I have this ADHD component. I need a lot of (fitting) stimuli to actually function. Taking thoughts to the outside gives me the ability to concentrate on them and thus work with them in any way.
