Hi there,

I get a little preoccupied with the genetics of Asperger's; it runs down my father's side of the family like a shot (at least five generations). Lately I've noticed that many of the people around me have a Morton's toe (the second toe is longer than the big toe). This includes my best friend, my husband, two good friends, and myself. This is a recessive trait that only appears in 10% of the population or less. All of the parties involved are the children of professors, four have been diagnosed w/ ADD, ADHD, or Asperger's. I know it's a small sampling, but according to Freud, it only takes two sets of interrelated variables to produce a pattern. Quick poll--how many of y'all are both sportin' a Morton's toe and neurological variances?

I have Morton's toe on one foot, and my dad (also likely NLD) has Morton's toe on both feet.

I also have a foot deformity called "skew foot" which is considered rare (I'm not sure of the statistics, but "common" foot deformities are 1 in 1000 so significantly less common than that). I already asked around on this board though, and it doesn't seem like anyone else here has it.

It means that instead of being straight, my foot is curved. Here's a link to my original post (it includes an x-ray of someone with skew foot if you want to see what it looks like):

I have pretty flat feet, but no Morton's toe.

I know NTs who have it though.

since we're talking about feet- I have a friend who has tissue between all toes (like a duck) yet is terrified of water. how ironic huh? I bet Michael Phelps would kill for those feet. ;p

I have duck feet (not webbed toes). My feet point outwards and I can't make them strait when I walk. This is something that runs in my family.

I don't have Morton's toe or skewed feet but my feet are short and wide. Finding good shoes is not an easy task for me.

From a generational family that include(s)(ed) many aspies and a few auties as well (interesting how you can spot it down the line, isn't it?) - no correlation of which I am aware.

My grandmother on the other side of the tree (non-spectrum) had Morton's toe. She used to say she hated her feet because her toes made her "look like a monkey."

Are we really sure this is unusual? my second toe is slightly longer than my big toe AND my foot is somewhat curved...but I thought this was normal. But with me I wouldn't be surprised, I needed some sort of leg braces when I was a kid and my ankles are messed up...wht not more?

I have Mortons toe on both feet. BF says its cute.

And I've been told I might have Marfans syndrome... anyone else have that, since we are comparing weird syndromes?

Hey, the Statue of Liberty has Morton's toe! So do ancient Greek statues.

I don't have Morton's toe, but my 2nd toe is almost as long as my big toe. People have commented on it.

I should show that photo (on the paged linked in the post above this one) to my husband. My 2nd toe is only slightly longer than my big toe, and my husband, who's 2nd toe is distinctly shorter than the big toe (which is normal in his family), thinks my feet are, well, just wrong. He, by the way, is I think more aspie than me.

I do have Morton's toe, i guess...in fact..maybe it is just the position of the way my toes are placed on my feet, but both my second and third toes appear longer than my big toe.

I have short, wide feet too. I always figured it had to do with walking on my toes. They are very wide in the front and narrow in the back. I often wear shoes a few sizes too big for me.
If my feet were as narrow as I guess they should be, I could wear a size five and alot of 6's are too big...but I have worn up to a size 8...finding shoes is difficult. Usually I wear crocs...
