We are marginalised or ostracised, due to my gayness and Aspieness or the combination of it I have always taken up the cause of other marginalized groups in society.

have you got the same feeling or is that asking for empathy?

Sure I feel that way. That is why I support gay rights even though I am not gay. I also strongly oppose those who seek to deprive women of their bodily autonomy.

We have empathy. We just don't show it so easily, or we don't realise that someone is upset as quickly as a NT does. It isn't too much to ask for empathy from an aspie!

And yes I do tend to side with the underdog.

Yes, I have that same feeling. I usually side with the underdog. I hate prejudice, discrimination, stigma and such things that marginalize groups of people for stupid reasons.

I always side with the underdog and I have no patience and tolerance for ignorance

Absolutely. Having been picked on for my differences absolutely made me feel kinship with other outsider groups of various types. Gay rights, civil rights, rights for the disabled, seemed obvious to me even before I ever heard of Asperger's. Don't ever believe that aspies have no empathy.

You know when you see two male animals fighting on nature documentaries, over territory ?

For some reason, I always identify with the vanquished animal - never the victor.

Really annoys me, actually.

I'm guessing because it reminds me of my social 'standing'.

But then, what would be the point of identifying with the victor ?

It's boring for the victor - just another rebuffed challenge.

It's much more interesting for the challenger, as he has to analyse the reasons for his failure and plot a more successful sequel.

But maybe I'm getting a bit anthropomorphic here ?

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.

It depends on what the situations and reasons are for whatever's happening.

Anubend,

I agree with you. At the Olympics, for example, I like seeing an unexpected person winning an event. I don't identify with the "favorite," who often meets with embarrassing failure. I don't, however, relentlessly champion those in last place, as the commentators do. If you are in an event where you don't know what you're doing, you can get yourself killed.

I have too much empathy for the underdog. I feel broken hearted when I see how people like me get treated! And I wish I knew what to do but I often feel helpless. People like me get treated like crap all the time. Whenever possible I try to help them out:)

I used to root for the Trix rabbit during Trix commercials. Is that the same thing?

That sounds like self-serving logic.
The person wants you on his side when he's the victim (you are very caring).
But the same person wants you on his side when he's the perpetrator (you are selfish).
Even when he's the perp and you are the victim... (you are out of line, rude, insubordinate...)
Don't try to make sense of people in herd-mode. They don't have any sense.

The rule is actually very simple. If the victim is not laughing, it's not funny.

Yes, I love the underdog so much to that I am biased. It's a fault.

I think so.

And gosh I hate those bratty little kids treating the Trix rabbit so horribly! They should just let him eat his cereal. Since they all have plenty more anyways, surely they can stand to share!

I side with the underdog politically, but not always in relation to actual individuals.
