I am not moaning about AS, but about bullying. And i think it is important to explain to other (teacher, families) that AS kids are most likely to get bullied. So it is important to show this problem.

Because whilst many aspects of AS can be beneficial; such aspects are rarely realized in an NT world, and our differences serve as constant reminders. Hence the often stated alien assosciation. If we lived in a world more suited to ourselves, little cause for complaints. But - we don't. Simple as that.

Problem is that there is a widespread myth that AS = Gifted. You will see it here in these forums, maybe for some they do have some amazingly focused mental abilities, the majority don't. For me there is nothing good about having aspergers, it is a disorder that undiagnosed has made an absolute mess off my life. Now that I know what is wrong with me I am re-evaluating my past and looking forward with a bit more hope. What I do not understand is the constant bashing of people who fortunately do not have ASD, I would love to be Neuro Typical

Beware of Life bearing gifts topic

No one sends out cards stating we have been blessed with Autism. Like any gift, there are drawbacks. Autistic people like myself have to learn to understand how to use the gift, as we are often notorious for not accepting gifts gladly (I guess we are suspicious.) Luke Skywalker had Yoda. Autiies and Aspies figure it out for ourselves.

Oh, yeah, being NT would be great... Jumping when an alpha tells you, socializing 'till you die. But... What of "NT" scientists? Hardly "NT", gifted but in very different ways to those talented AS.
The NT bashing is largely because of past experiences. Wishing to be NT is one thing, yeah, but why suggest those who don't wish to be NT as wrong?

Sometimes it can sound like moaning, I suppose. However, I think this is how we work things out. It just seems concentrated because we're all discussing the same problems and getting inputs from others. Because we relate to other people better by having similar experiences and relating those experiences back, then I suppose it can sound like whining.

I can't relate to people when I haven't had a similar experience. Then it comes down to a problem of being able to express that to someone else. WP is a comfortable place where we have lots of "aha" moments with others. We have so many moments of not being able to relate to others or touch base with them or just plain feeling like we don't belong with others. When someone else has a problem that we get and relate to, we say....Oh wow, I'm not so weird. Look, there's at least one other person that feels the same way I do.....That's a good thing.

If by past experiances do you mean bullying, exclusion ect? We are the ones with the social dysfunction not the 'NT's' remember that NT means neuro typical not as*hole. We are the ones that do not get social cues. Do you expect everyone who does not have ASD to learn all about it and spot our disability and make amends for it :?:

I did'nt
I just dont get why 'we' blame NT's for their reaction to our really annoying and often inapropriate pattern of social behaviour, that is why we get bullied, Thinking that it is all the 'NT's' fault is typical AS behaviour, I for one want to try and change my behaviour. If you want to revel in being different go for it, but don't winge when people get annoyed by you

It's like everything in life it is both good and difficult. A gift well that is someone that calls the glass half full instead of empty and good for them

On the one hand I am artistic, good organizer, unique solutions to many types of problems, focused ect. On the other hand I'm living with people who are able to mask their emotions, don't learn by a lot of repetition and mental pics or have other nuerological tics that make me standout a bit from the herd.

Since some of us can't be put in the LF or even "middle" functioning box NTs just want to ignore us or presume we have some more troubling issues
