Dangit... I know I must have issues controlling my voice as people often shhh! me or tell me to quiet down.

But it happened three times today! I don't know why I do it or how to stop... But it's hard enough to know when to (or to want to) jump into a conversation... but I just must get a little too amped up when I do so.

Sometimes it makes me feel really bad when they do it to me... cause it's usually in front of lots of other people who are talking too. I didn't mind THAT so much today... It just pisses me off kind of when I KEEP doing it... that's 3 embarrassing moments in the span of some hours.

And it's often kind of hard to recover from such things within the same conversation.

I feel like a kid when people do this to me.

Bur!

I feel the same way. Its hard enough to feel like you belong in a conversation without the constant "Shhhh", "shut up" or all the eqivalent looks. The thing i hate the most is being silenced, mostly because my mom has done it to me my whole life.

Its strange though, sometimes people tell me to quiet down, but all the other times i dont talk loud enough. Its like theres no "middle point" for me

I used to have that problem. I have jumped into conversations at an incorrect and awkward point many times.

I did it again yesterday! Voice control is probably my worst problem! Large gatherings are bad for me, and I am learning why I must avoid them unless I can't. I got too excited during an energy related discussion, and now that I think about it I realize some people were probably put off by it. I am worst for this when I am excited, feeling overwhelmed by so many new people, or if there's a lot of background noise so it's difficult for me to evaluate my sound level.

I'm sorry they're so sensitive, fragile, and so easily put off! Aw, screw 'em!

Yeah, I think I have my volume control set right, only to find out it's been slipping higher and higher and I'm shouting for no good reason... How embarrassing.

This is exactly how it is for me. Then my mother will get mad at me and accuse me of doing it on purpose.

People don't tell me to "shhhh" they tell me to lower my voice.
I have always been a loud talker. I thought I had been doing it since age ten but my mother said I have always been loud. Loud since I started to talk.

Sometimes I think I do it cause I feel kind of distant or detached from the actual setting that maybe it makes me feel like i have to come across (something)...

Sometimes, it's like one of those "oooh oooh" moments that you have in your head, except I'm already talking...

I get the "shhh" treatment constantly, but during the very same conversation I may be asked to speak up because I can barely be heard.

It sometimes happens to me.

Then again, I “shhh” others just as frequently.

No big deal.

I know exactly how you feel! My sister always tells me that my voice is way too loud; that I don't need to "yell". Something that really makes me mad is when somebody tells me to "Shhh" when I'm right in the middle of talking, so I don't wake my niece and nephew up. :?

I used to talk too loudly and I was always told to lower my voice down, but now I always talk too quiety and like a robot.
