I don't. There is always some light coming in through the window, as my room is at the front of the house and there is a streetlight nearby.

I couldn't sleep with any light in the room until about 20.
Might have something to do with the city though....
I live in the country now and prefer the curtains open at night

When it's dark out, I sleep with colored Xmas lights on-they create cheerful warm glow.

When going to bed during the day (am a night owl, and thus frequenly a day sleeper), I turn those off & instead there's daylight shining in-doesn't interfere with my falling asleep, though.

Every once in awhile I go to sleep in total darkness (but usually need some little bit of light so I can see the cable/tv remote control). If I know I'll be falling asleep soon, I turn off the tv monitor & leave on the cable & stereo (which display a few small colored lights, not enough by which to see), so I can listen to music or shows, w/o flashing pictures on screen distracting.

I prefer to sleep in total darkness. I've got black wallpaper type stuff on the windows and black-out blinds on the windows. I don't even like the light coming in through a cracked door and have my alarm clock numbers as dim as possible.

I have a very strict set of requirements for easy sleeping:

  • As little light as possible
  • As little sound as possible
  • Temperature between 67° F and 71° F
  • Sheet, blanket, and comforter
  • Plenty of space to stretch and roll around into the most comfortable position
  • No caffeine after lunch time and only limited amounts during lunch

Even then it can be hard to fall asleep.

I don't sleep in pitch black but I do sleep with the lights off. I would like to sleep in pitch black but I don't think that's possible because of indirect light sources.

With my issues I cannot sleep with a blind fold it would drive me crazy and my skin would itch. I don't like anything on my head.
I have some Halloween lights. ( like x mas except in purple, green and orange)

I used to go through a routine of shutting out EVERY bit of light coming into my bedroom. This meant filling up the gaps in the door jams, joining the curtains together with clothes pegs etc. it took about 30 mins to get the room fully dark

I sleep with all lights turned off, but I leave my blind open so that when the sun comes up I know it's morning. (Like an alarm clock that doesn't make a noise.)

I still find it hard to sleep with any light filtering into my room. Has to be dead dark

I can sleep almost anywhere. In the pitch black, in the full sun, laying down, sitting up, warm, cold, noisy, quiet, none of it matters to me.

I still have not figured out how to sleep standing up. I keep falling down when I try.

if it's night time when i go to sleep, i only have a few little lights from electronics.. not enough to see by, and whatever filters through the blinds from the street light outside. if it's daytime when i go to bed (night owl), or i don't shut my computer down for whatever reason, i have a blinder.. thingy... that i wear over my eyes to block out all the light. i can sleep when it's light out... since i'm always tired, i can pretty much fall asleep anywhere, and sometimes fall asleep on my living room couch while it's daytime and the lights are on and my mom's watching tv and my dad's playing a computer game with the sound on... :P but for good quality sleep, i still prefer the dark.

Well, so many aspies are sensitive to light, so I don't feel so wierd when I like to sleep in darkness. At least I don't live in Alaska in June.
