I absolutley hate the taste of mint. I can't stand it, I can't even stand the smell.

Also I don't like using paste toothpaste I much prefer a gel that froths up once it's in your mouth. I had been using Theramed toothpaste because it tasted more of chemicals than mint, however they've changed it now and it tastes all minty and horrible.

Does anyone know of a gel toothpaste that's not mint flavour or at least not too minty. I don't know what to do!

Also you have to be able to get it in Britain.

Have you tried pepsodent? Also, I got a toothpaste from my dentist that was so mild one could barely tell. It was expensive and had extra flouride in it but that was what got me to the point where I could brush my teeth as often as I needed to do it.
I have also used Tom's, which comes from the US, but I bet you could get that on the internet.

The kiddies range of toothpastes may be worth having a look at,like the one Serissa linked to,as they tend to have fruity flavours rather than full on mint.

Crest has a line of Whitening Expressions in various flavors. I picked up a variety pack of it the other day. It had cinnamon, vanilla, orange, and some sort of mint.

Fluoride is bad for kids and adults. It's banned in Europe, causes stomach and digestive problems and it's a poison from the aluminum industry. Aluminum is thought to contribute to Alzheimer's. Fluoride also causes adult teeth to soften.

Tom's Toothpaste sells all natural cinnamon that tastes good and no fluoride. I quit using toothpaste with fluoride years ago and have not had cavities nor do I get the plaque buildup, like I did with fluoride toothpaste. I never let the dentist put on the fluoride on my kids teeth and my kids don't allow it on the grandkids teeth.

I can't stand mint either, and I use the oral-b kids toothpastes. They do the job. I don't know if they are available in England though.

If I could find it here in the U.S. I would buy "Signal" toothpaste from England. My British aunt brought me a tube one year and even though it was quite strong, I loved it. Right now I use Pepsodent because it's mild.

Another vote for Tom's of Maine. Its the only toothpaste my son can tolerate.

Bubblegum? Urgh.

As an alternative, you can make your own toothpaste.
I used to use toothpowder but can't find it anymore where I live. Here is a site with recipes for both tooth powder and paste:

I use a Citrus version of Crest toothpaste. It tastes mildly of orange. I actually kind of like it

There is one called Mentadent, I think the flavour is called "original." It's a very strong flavour, but it's not minty. It's more aniseed. Boots also do one in an "original" flavour, which is similar, but not so strong.

Am I the only one here who actually *likes* mint toothpaste? :?: But if you don't like mint, most of the kids' toothpastes are either fruit or bubblegum. For me, those are worse because many of them have that sickly sweet taste. :x

I only do peppermint. Toms of Maine. Peppermint is also good for a nervous stomach. I chew peppermint gum and it settles my stomach.
