anti depressants and allergic reactions
hello everyone, i am having alot of problems with anti depressants i have tried 2 ssri's (celexa zoloft) and a tricyclic called imipramine, with each one i keep getting the same allergic reaction, throat swelling, i can feel it right below my adams apple its kinda like a pulsing, throbbing feeling which makes it hard to swallow. my doctor told me she doesnt actually know for sure if its an allergic reaction but she told me to take benadryl with it and it should counter it. im concerned because i dont want to end up in the emergency room and if i do i will for sure be suing because she has advised me to continue taking it knowing im getting these symptoms.
so what do you guys know about this? IS it an allergic reaction?

I would say that if it's doing that to you, you probably should quit taking it. I've been "misinformed" (read: lied to) by doctors too many times to trust much of what they say. Also, I certainly wouldn't recommend taking Benadryl every day just so you can take an antidepressant. I wouldn't recommend taking any synthetic drug long term- especially antidepressants and the like. If you are allergic to the drugs, then they are damaging you in more ways than what the Benadryl will cover up.
I should be a walking example of why not to take antidepressants. My memory fails me often and is full of holes. I'm 100 pounds overweight with insulin resistance and it's difficult to lose. I have anger problems because I never learned how to properly deal with my emotions. Overall, I'm not the same person I was before the drugs. I used to have an unquenchable curiosity about the world around me and I'd spend hours a day outside just enjoying everything. Now, it's the complete opposite, even though I've been off of the drugs for 3 years. The longer I was on them, the more damage they caused. I'm still trying to get my life back together.
