I was thinking about when I was memorizing Pi, and I remembered that at different paces, I could not remember the numbers.
I could quickly recall 100 numbers in my pace: 3.14 159 26 535 8979 323 846, etc.
In the Pi song the it goes as followed: 3 . 14 159 26 535, in rythem.
I have read about problems with phone number memorization too.

Does anyone else have any type of problem like this? :?

Yes, I, too, need to have a certain rhythm to memorize things. That is why I often do poorly on the digit span test. The tester who reads the numbers will mess up my rhythm, and I get off track. My digit span is able to be a lot higher than is shown on tests, so long as I'm able to use the proper rhythm and pacing.

I can relate to this very well; I have a thing for memorizing pieces of text, phrases and poetry.

I can have the image or the sound in my head, but if they do not correspond to a the 'correct' rhythm I can't remember a thing. However, if the rhythm is 'correct' then sometimes I only need to glance at something once to remember it forever. xD Lol, I just memorized 'I remember, I remember' by Hood, because of that very reason this morning- just glanced at the poem once, liked the phonetics and lexis and... there you go.

I had only ever seen it once before, briefly as a small child... if only I could apply this concept to college notes!

Usually I can't be arsed to remember strings of numbers, and I can even forget my own phone number.

I do better with words. I have to learn song lyrics for my music performances. I never try to remember them as a conscious effort, I just keep trying to sing them until it's there.

We used to have to learn poetry at school. I was always mindful of the unreliablle nature of human memory, and generally felt they were asking the impossible, but I often found that a poem I'd been trying in vain to commit to memory would be 100% recallable first thing in the morning after I'd been working on it, though later in the day, in the classroom, there would be gaps.

I memorize numbers so easily it isn't even funny.

I still remember some of the pro #'s that I moved for work today. They're 10 numbers long.
