You know, while I myself am a vegan, I often can't stand Peta either. (They do some good, but most of the time they are just rude, obnoxious, or downright annoying.)
The Ben and Jerry's thing was pretty much just a publicity stunt (or else they would have recommended switching to soy or rice milk rather than, I don't know, human breast milk!) and the autism thing is downright absurd, in fact I didn't even know about the autism-milk stunt until I saw this video.
You'd be surprised at how many vegans dislike Peta.
[And by the way, just one thing, meat isn't a neccesity. Even if you don't care about the ethical issues associated, the enviorment and the millions of hungry people in the world are greatly affected by the animal industry. It takes a toll on everyone. Also, comparisons of omnivores to those eating a well-balanced vegan diet show significant differences in overall health and lifespan. When done the right way, eliminating meat (among other things) tends to be a much healthier choice.]
I have tend to have problems with vegans or vegetarians, whenever they start beaking off on the food I prefer to eat, its my choice to eat meat, as it contains the protein I need, now I do eat a lot of vegetables and try to have a balanced diet, which you don't get having a vegan diet, you still have to supplement certain vitamins amino acids and oils which you have to take in pill form. I also don't like how vegans force their children into an unhealthy diet which can be harmful to their growth and well being. There is also the issue of pets such as dogs and cats, which need to have meat in their diets, anyone who insist on feeding a carnivore a carrot needs to have their head examined, and their pets taken away.
Rant over.
