Fernando (see http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt79088.html) was surprised, whilst busy focusing on his mental exercises, to find as an aside that he experienced empathy and contact with another person.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe if our Aspie-ness is absorbed (distracted) by something interesting and heavy, we use our NT functioning for some secondary communication?

I get little empathy attacks almost out of no where sometimes. I'll be lying down or drawing or walking to class and then all of a sudden, wham, it hits me.

i usually get a few empathy "attacks" when i'm either becoming depressed or am severely depressed and very emotional (as opposed to just unemotional, numb, sad, etc) but other than that they very rarely happen. i was severely depressed once and just started missing my sister, i've never missed anyone in my life so that was a very strange, scary moment.
