Do you have visions or waking dreams?
I once had a vision of a scene, people on a house porch, and it looked like south France. I developed a whole fantasy story from it, and part of the story took place in Paris. I'd hardly visited France at that stage. I then started writing that fantasy and flew to France twice to research the locations for my novel.
On one of the trips I got lost and couldn't find the metro station. It was early morning and totally dark, not a soul on the street and I was scared. So I talked to the main character in my head, asked her for help, since she's a local and knows the streets of Paris so well. I was laughing at myself for doing this, but immediately I felt like she was telling me to cross the street (not a voice in my head but a feeling). I knew the station wasn't that way, but I crossed the street anyway, kind of like flowing with the game. Indeed, from the middle of the street it was possible to see the metro station, so I found it immediately.
My therapist believes that the characters we create in our fantasies are parts of ourselves that we don't normally allow expression to, and that by talking to them we can access parts of ourselves that we usually don't connect with. She's an actress and a Psychodramatist so, for her, stories and acting are instrumental in healing ourselves. She believes if we ask these fantasy characters for help, we're actually accessing parts of ourselves that have resources we're usually disconnected from in ourselves.

Some would say that life is its self a dream. I believe that the sub-conscious can be accessed while awake. At least this seems to be true to an extent. Have you experimented with lucid dreaming? This seems to be a possible gateway to the realm of sub-conscious processes.

Waking dreams? Not really, but I have entered buildings for the first time and immediately knew where everything was, down to the arrangement of the furniture and the pictures on the walls.
Except for one building that had an addition put on the back about 30 years previous. It completely surprised me, as I was expecting a door to a garden.
All of the buildings were built in the early 1900's and were within 20 miles of each other.

If so, then I have a Superhero inside me that I don't give expression to ! !
I've had some odd experiences regarding places, but never a full-on vision.
