I'm wondering how many Aspie's have taken the Jeopardy quiz, either on line or in person. Jeopardy strikes me as something that many intelligent Aspie's would do well.

I walked into on without any prep and, to my great surprise, made it to the audition. It seemed like everyone else there had taken the quiz several times and had studied books on passing the quiz, so I didn't think I had a chance. I was so flustered when I found out that I had passed, that I totally blew the mini-game. I've taken the online quiz, but since you can't go back to check questions, I didn't do so well.

I never took the quiz, because I don't perform well on tests and the thought of being in front of people on tv doesn't make me very happy. But I have always loved Jeopardy!

My interests are to narrow for me to do well on that show. For example a lot of the cinema questions I would completely bomb out on as I don't care much about movies made today much less ones made 30-40 years ago. I do watch it almost everyday and do relatively well, however I'm sure that in person I would find it a much greater challenge.

I get sucked in sometimes; everyone around me goes "Rain Man" when I pull out the answer before they've finished speaking...;)

I don't really excel at Jeopardy. Millionaire is my game of choice :) .

Is that really an Aspie kind of show? You would have to know a lot of little bits of info covering a wide array of subject matter. Plus, have coordination to press that button the right way at the exact time.

Maybe it's just me then. I've excellent trigger recall I tend record and index just about everything I see or hear, so I do great in science, nature, medicine and other subjects that interest me. I pick up a lot of the answers from the hints rather than actual knowledge of the subject. I've never had any interest in the humanities so I die in art, literature and music. Pop culture and western religion tend to be deadly as well.

Millionaire with multiple choice is a lot easier overall, but I get annoyed by people that go for the lifelines with $5000 at stake and it's easy to get done in by a simple question that is out of your realm of knowledge (usually something to do with pop culture for me).

I wish I shared your talent, then I could stay on Jeopardy the entire season, as a champion, of course. If you can do that you should consider going on the show.

Jeopardy? Heck, I'm not even Smarter Than A Fifth Grader.

ETA: That whole assumption that people with ASD are inherently smarter... well, that bus stopped before reaching my house. I'm about a dumb as they get.

Unfortunately, I'm as dead in as many categories as I can run. To be really successful, you can't afford to be dead on half the board, even if you can run the rest and there's always the danger of getting a board that's weighted against you. Now if I could only mind meld with my mother-in-law, I'd be good. She's a professional historian and had a classical humanities education. That would fill in about half of what I'm missing. Pick up the pop culture and music from my wife and the only thing that would probably kill me would be sports.

To be the next Ken Jennings you need to have photographic memory and have read up on just about every subject they cover. I wasn't watching it much when he was making his run, but he seemed to be strong in just about every category. It didn't hurt that he had nearly perfect timing on the buzzer. The buzzer was one of the things that killed me during the mini-game. I was the guy you see frustratedly shaking the buzzer in the air and never getting to answer.

Since I've been out of work, I have been catching Millionaire and wondering how to get on that.

I want to see Ken Jennings on Millionaire. I'm curious to see if he can get up to the million. 8)
