Has anybody had a moment where AS gave them an advantage?

I find my ability to push out emotions and think logically in emergencies quite helpful. But other than that, no, not really.

I think it's a funny thing to have! LOL! Who needs drinking/partying/skipping class work etc. when you can focus your brain PURELY on your school work and get it done before other students? I LOVE IT!! Although it's funny looking back on things that have happened. My Psychology teacher started avoiding me since she didn't know how to answer my questions and didn't want to answer them LOL! So my questions in Psychology were to hard for someone with a PhD IN THE FIELD LOL! My questions being too hard for the teacher is humourus looking back on it. :-)

Good memory (long term) is nice. Perseverance (at least in the field of interest). When interested I'm a quite quick learner. And Sudoku's become easy. :)

I believe it gives me just as many advantages as disadvantages. Its all how you cope with your disadvantages that defines your success. I can speak with a near-perfect accent after hearing an accent for about an hour. On the other hand I've been known to tell a story and recieve confused glances.=)

It's all advantages, except for the social aspect, which is horrible and includes the (in)ability to make a living.

Happens all the time at work, since I work alone and constantly have to figure out how to do stuff.

When I'm not at work, well...

Yes, I've had many such moments. There are actually many advantages to having AS, although there are disadvantages too of course.

People find it difficult to read me. This came in handy many times.

I'm just kind of hoping to break even with it.

I think I have a "rainman factor" when it comes to solving problems (is that an oxymoron?). What I mean is that I can solve very complex problems at work quite easily (as long as they don't involve people). It genuinely astounds people how easy it is for me. Not to sound egotistical, but I astound myself, since I'm not even sure how I do it.

One big downside is, I don't get enough credit or pay, becuase I'm not much of a people person.

Yes, to answer the OP's question. My job involves a lot of repetition, which also requires attention to detail. I'm in a scientific field, so it helps to have a good sense of logic and the ability to think outside the box. Like a previous poster, I can solve complex problems, but my solution is usually not appreciated right away. Sometimes, after a period of time, my solution turns out to be worthwhile, which surprises everyone, though not me.

Exactly! Two of my current interests are aid station operation (at races) and community disaster preparedness/operations. I am pretty good at these for the very reasons above.

Yes, a few times; things such as attention to detail.
