I've been a person on and off here for a few years. I know testing is the only way to get an answer, but I'm afraid to ask because of a few reasons.

Anyway, something my pastor told my husband bothered me (my husband is for sure an NT and doesn't even know what autism is. I don't know how he would react if I explained it to him). We are having a problem, and my pastor said I was detail oriented while he saw the big picture of the problem. Made me think about this again, does my pastor think I'm autistic?

Another thing is empathy. I get upset and cry when he cries, but is there more than that to empathy?

Also I am expressive in my face, I thought autistics weren't. My husband can very easily read my emotional state, to the point it creeps me out sometimes.

There are some differences between women and men on the Autism spectrum. However, no one here can diagnose you (obviously). The best thing to do might be to see a therapist who specializes in Autism or neurodevelopmental disorders.

No case of autism or Asperger's is typical, and women with the disorders often act differently than men do. I have been diagnosed with Asperger's but I can get upset by seeing other people upset and and have very readable facial expressions, although they may be a bit exaggerated because I learned them mainly from cartoons and kid's shows and don't read them as well on other people. I also am much better at making eye-contact and having one-on one conversations before my diagnosis especially with people I know or who act friendly. I was an above-average reader and writer back in grade school but had real problems with math and I'm quite sick of hearing how you're supposed be be all logic and into math and numbers. Although I do have a weird dislike of odd numbers except for 5.

Why was six afraid of seven? Because seven ate nine.

OP: Even if you have Asperger's, do you feel it's severely impacted you life? If it's not any sort of hindrance, there's probably no need to even bother getting diagnosed. If you're functioning well, then what's the problem?

When I see something is obviously wrong with someone I dont know what to do or what to say. I try to avoid those situations and will excuse myself if I have to.
