Peripheral vision was one of the things on the aspie quiz that was posted here. I'd never really thought about it before but now that I've been paying attention to it, I've noticed that I use my peripheral vision a lot. Not with objects, but I use it all the time with other people instead of looking directly at them. That explains why people often think I'm not listening to them or paying attention to them when I really am - it doesn't *look* like I'm looking at them. When you combine that with the fact that I don't say much, some people are probably feeling pretty ignored. Definitely something for me to keep in mind and try to work on.

Mine is terrible. I'll tell you that.

Yeah, I mainly listen to people using peripheral vision. I think some people think I'm not listening to them, but a couple people do.

I am the complete opposite. I am so blind and I wear glasses that my peripheral is horrible. Usually if something isn't dead center, I completely miss it. I hyperfocus on my center field and almost ignore everything else.

I don't know if this would be different if my sight weren't so bad.

You might want to check out this thread. It relates very closely to what you're saying:

I got this really annoying flashing think in my Peripheral vision today, its really annoying and makes it hard to read or play computer games. So I'm pretty much out of things to do.

I use it all the time. Of course, I did train myself to do this. (For some reason it seems harder to use when wearing glasses).

I'm thinking about getting Phakic lenses (IOLs) anyways, as my glasses keep getting scratched or mangled (so the legs dont line up right and the thing doesnt fit). Did try contact lenses and I liked them better, but I kept losing them.

My far peripheral vision is the worst. My center vision is better, and my slightly peripheral vision is the best.

Great article. I haven't been around here much in the last few days so I hadn't seen it. Those are good suggestions in it, something to work on. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

You're welcome. Glad you liked it! :D

By the way, I've just put up a poll on the article. Please take a moment and fill it out. It will influence which topic I write about next!

My peripheral vision is amazing! I can spot building numbers and signs at the corner of my mind going fast down a road.
