Did any one here go to their prom in school? If so did you felt more forced or willing to go?

Gracias.

I didn't go because nobody invited me. I was invisible in high school. Horrible 4 years.

I wish I had been invisible. The horrible four years part certainly holds up. No, I didn't go to the prom.

I did not go nor did I have the desire to. I never really saw the point of it, or anything else social in school for that matter.

My middle school even had an 8th grade prom. I thought that was totally stupid.

I went to my high school prom when I was a junior, but not as a senior. When I was a junior, I decided it was about time that I made the most out of my last two years of high school, so I went. The prom was alright. It wasn't anything special or anything. I was glad I went, but it would've been the only time that I went to the prom.

I did, and actually I had fun. I went "stag" with my band geek friends. They had a "casino night" theme where we got to gamble for prizes, as well as a hand-writing analyst and palm reader. There was a reggea band and a little techno group, as well as a DJ. It was a "lock-in" - after a certain hour, we had to stay until morning (to discourage us from going out and drinking). In the morning, we were served breakfast and there was raffle (one of the incentives to get us to stay) that included a car. One of my friends won a stereo system.

Now that I look back on it, I have no idea where my school came up with the money for all of that. I suspect a lot of businesses donated. It was 1986, so I guess people had money.

I'm glad I went. I never went to any other school dances or social functions except ones related to band or orchestra. Oh wait, I did go to some of the plays my scholl dram department put on, only because my friends were in it. But things like pep rallies and such, I never went.

In high school now, and go to every dance. Alone, of course.

When I was in High School I went to all the dances too, and alone too. That is how I went to My prom (alone) still went and had some fun doing it.

I went to the prom with one of my best (male) friends. One day we were talking about how lame the prom would be if we were there with a date - I said I'd be so nervous, I wouldn't have a good time - He agreed with me....later that day, I asked him if he'd like to go to the prom with me and a couple of our other (misfit/odd) friends...he said that it sounded great. At home I was told that girls didn't ask guys to the prom...it's just not done that way but I didn't care, nothing I ever did was the way other girls acted. I just knew we'd have fun because we were not going to prom with someone we were trying to impress or had romantic feelings for.

We totally skipped the Prom Dinner because we were all pretty poor and didn't want to waste our money on some fancy-frilly-overdone meal. We came late (just in time for the dancing) but none of us were dancers so we just sat around together and talked & did the kinds of things we liked doing. After a while, the music got slow and romantic (yuck) and all of the good music had been played so we left and went to a nearby carnival, still in our formal prom attire. There we rode rides, ate cotton candy and had a blast. Everyone was looking at us like we were out of our minds but there was nothing new about those looks, we just laughed and carried on like we were the only ones there at the carnival. It was a great idea - going to Prom with a friend instead of a date. We all had the best time and talked about it with smiles and laughter long after it was over.

Later that week though, I was told by a classmate that the Prom Queen was really angry at me and put out by the whole ordeal. I was confused by this because the Prom Queen was a beautiful popular girl that never had said so much as a hello to me in my entire 4 years of high school. I asked the classmate why she would be mad at me, of all people. I was told that the Prom Queen had asked my friend to go with her to the Prom and he had turned her down saying that he already had a Date for the Prom! He turned down the most Popular girl at school to go with little ol' me  :P How kewl is that? I'll always love ya for that one Robbie

Of course, every dance in the past year or so has a thread in the Romance section devoted to it, dances are way too confusing when it comes to understanding social rules. EVERYTHING'S REWRITTEN!! !
