What if Kanner's Autism is actually a form of AS?

People always say that Asperger's is a "high-functioning form" of autism. What if it is actually the other way around and classic Autism is actually a form of the broader category of Asperger's Syndrome?

Any thoughts?

Then the definitions and names would be reversed and everything would be the same again :) .
