Does anybody else have problems forshawdowing or guessing what is going to happen next (cause and effect)?
I have noticed that I can't predict even the simplist things.

For instance: There was something leaning on [the outside of] my garage door, I opened my garage door (from the inside) and I saw it while the door was coming up. But I didn't go and move it out of the way, because I didn't think of it falling after I open the garage door all the way, even after I saw that it was leaning on the door with no support.

Now that I look back at that, I am stunned that I couldn't think of that. And extremely upset, and because of that incident, my kitten is going to be put to sleep tomorrow. (she got hit in the head with the object)

Anybody else have this problem? Is it an aspie thing? Or is it just me?

Do you mean, not seeing the consequences of your actions? Happens all the time among Aspies and NTs alike.

No worries, mate! It's a normal thing. Just be more careful next time. :D

I'm sorry to hear that about your kitten. I know the feeling. I tend to be a bit careless too, thinking things will be all right, and then I blame myself. My dad got a bad cold because I didn't make him warm enough when we went out (he's 83 and was saying he didn't feel cold enough to wear a coat that day) and I'm feeling guilty about it now.

I understand what you mean SeizeTheDay.
I'm also sorry about your kitten.
I do not know that it effects all people with AS, but certainly, I have this problem with pragmatic prediction, and although the same thing might happen to NTs on an odd exceptional basis, it is very obvious to me that it is not a pervasive result of impaired cognition, as it obviously is in my case.
It's like comparing AS interests to NT interests. NTs are capable of being interested in things, sometimes even boring others by talking about them. That does not mean there is not a significant difference in the pervasive long term pattern of AS symptom type fixation and 'garden variety' interests.

Greentea, a cold is caused by a virus. You cannot 'get a cold' from not being warm enough. You can only get a cold as a result of being infected by cold causing viruses. You have no cause to feel guilty.

You're right, I think he got it from his caregiver who had a cold a few days before he got it...
