If you could convert an NT into an aspie, what would the effects be?

Uhh... I dunno. I don't think it would be a whole lot, because changing the genetics wouldn't change the established NT brain patterns.

If you're talking about actually changing brain patterns, then I think you'd probably end up with severe brain damage, and probably damage that's much harder to recover from thanks to your theoretical NT being too old for the bulk of the childhood plasticity.

Changing the brain patterns in a very young child, two or younger, might result in a relatively typical Aspie, but you might also end up with worse problems because that's a very sensitive developmental time.

Oh, and you'd also get me yelling bloody murder, because nobody should have their brains messed with.

They would be so crippled by their inability to lie, pretend they know things and project meaningless confidence, that they would collapse into a sobbing, screaming mess. Without their worlds of pretense and delusion, NTs are not nearly as interesting or resourceful as Aspies are. Some NTs would be too paralyzed to get out of bed, if they suddenly became unable to lie and had to live in an objective reality.

They'd be even less functional, because all their natural social abilities would be stripped away leaving them probably horribly depressed....
Imagine everything social being as easy as breathing for you, and all the sudden you can no longer do it no matter how hard you try.
You'd be really messed up.

(Yes, I know all NT's aren't social geniuses, it's just an example.)

I'm thinking sensory problems here... Suddenly noticing EVERYTHING and being unable to filter it out would be devastating. We've adjusted to this--your poor NT subject wouldn't have. He'd be overwhelmed--instant meltdown.

I don't think, however, that NTs aren't as "interesting and resourceful" as Aspies... I think an Aspie would suffer similar trouble if he were forced into an NT brain. NTs are adapted to their neurology and sensory processing just as we're adapted to ours. Changing it is a Bad Idea.

What right do you have to question the very existence of who I am without fully understanding or knowing!

The idea of that is only appealing when a "NT" judges us or mocks us.. let him/her see how it is for a day... I bet anything he/her would regret mocking us...
